Default Tow hook/license plate holder?

Hi there, sorry if this isnt in the right spot, or its been covered, working from my phone. Anyway, im trying to figure out the tow hook sizing on the x-type, and if any other Jags run the same size? I would like to buy the bracket to hold my license plate, but no one makes one for x-types, that mounts in the tow hook hole. They are available for the XFR, XJR, F-type, XKR. If any of these cars have the same tow hook, reverse threading, id imagine i can use those brackets. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows or can help me.

Gmaxima, I recall this question being asked not that long ago and someone said that all Jags use the same tow hook. So, if you can get the plate holder for another Jag, it should fit onto the X-Type.

That is what the owner of gominigo.com told me, they are all the same. He makes a tow hook mounted license plate holder, probably one of the ones you are seeing on eBay or Amazon. The kits are made in Washington state out of nice stainless parts. The tow hook should be a reverse thread but do not recall the size.

Default Nope

well i can confirm that the x-type and xf, xk, and xj do NOT run the same size tow hook. I just dropped 115 bucks on the kit from gominigo and learned the hard way that they are in fact VERY different sizes. I will now work on returning it. If not, it'll be for sale sooner than later.

Why would you want to use an X Type to tow? I love my X, but it's the most underpowered car I've probably ever owned. I can't see it towing much over 1000lbs and still do 70 mph without upshifting.
Just saying.

I don't think you understand what a tow eye is for??????
It is NOT to tow things but it is a devise attached to the frame to allow the car to be TOWED (as in 'up on a tow truck' or onto a trailer).

The X-Type uses M16 X 3mm LEFT HAND THREAD. VW Jettas should have the same tow eye thread so you can find one in a salvage yard for CHEAP.

I have used a Jaguar M16 X 3.0mm tow eye to thread into a Jetta to pull it out of my shop with my tractor. The New Beetle ones have a longer shaft but might work.

Oh... Duh!!! Yeah, mine has one of those.
Ok, so I'm an idiot. Not the first time, and won't be the last!

I've seen this tow hook used by a wrecker (sadly, the first day I had my X-type--spun on an icy road). It is behind some part on the rear bumper. Is it literally a hook? Can someone show a picture? My X-type is not readily accessible because our driveway has decided to go glacier.

The one on the far right is the Left Hand Thread M16 X 3.0
