I have an el cheapo indoor cover I got off Amazon. When I pick it up in the spring from my storage place, there's some grit on the car, that presumably went through the cover. (Either that, or the storage place didn't bother to put the cover on.) Might get a better one at some point.
Big advantage is that some of the fitted ones look great with cool colors, logos, etc. And some are for outdoor use.

Are most people okay with this car cover? I negotiated to have one thrown in with the car and when I took it out of the package I knew I'd never use it. For $400.00 and from a luxury brand I expected something that looked attractive and was made of a high quality fabric. The fitted cover my BMW 1 series came with was a bazillion times better and that car retailed for $40k when new.

A heavy car cover will protect from small hail.
I used my hail blanket car cover to protect my Mustang from more than one hail storm with no damage to the car while parked in a public lot at my office. Even wrote my license plate across the front and back in marker so as not to get towed/ticketed...

If you don't have a garage, the main advantage is the heavier materials in the ones bought from Jaguar (i believe they go for $500 +/-) will do a better job protecting from the rain, sun, wind, hail than a generic size from Auto Zone.
I have one for my XF that i leave parked outside and it's been through multiple storms and there was just a small but of dust on the trunk which i think settled over the course of a few days but aside from that, the car cover held up.

Another member had asked me to shoot a quick video of me putting the OEM on. It took a few months, but here I am in a completely uncomposed state, poorly covering the car, and I got it on within a few seconds. I'm not sure how much it cost, cuz I made them negotiate it into the price of the car. But it is a fantastic cover.

"This video has been removed for violating YouTube's Terms of Service. " Does "uncomposed" mean you were nekkid?? LOL...
Good to see you back here.
I know that someone on the fb group was complaining that the official cover didn't have a form fitted piece of material over the sharkfin satnav thing, he was thinking that would result in premature wear at that spot over time.

YT's filters were literally triggered by some random thing in my video. I assume it will be back up shortly.
