Weatherstripping for Rear Window on '88 VDP
I have two little pinholes of rust right along the rear window weatherstripping. I'd like to properly repair it by removing the back glass and fixing the problem so it doesn't reappear in the future (hopefully) . Does anyone know where I can get a new rubber weatherstrip for the rear window? Also, not sure yet at this point but there's a possibility of me having to drop the rear portion of the headliner and if so,what is holding the headliner up near the back window? The car is an '88 Vanden Plas.

The seal is made up of several parts, as you can see in the parts diagram from jaguarclassicparts.com:
You can check the part numbers here:
Backlight Glass and Finisher - Parts For XJ6 (2.9, 3.2, 3.6, 4.0) from (V)500001 to (V)667828 | Jaguar Classic Parts UK
And you can check to see if any of these parts is still available from Jaguar at jaguarmerriamparts.com or gaudinjaguarparts.com.
When I had the windshield replaced on our '93, the glass technician was able to preserve and reuse the rubber seal and metal trim with new urethane sealant. I assume the same may be possible on the backlight.
Cheers,
Don
