Default Help needed.

I'm just starting to get my Cat back running after replacing the A Drum. I still have it up on the jack stands(make it easier to get to trans fill). it was running rough and had to keep my foot on the accel to keep it running. Should I lower it to the ground?

I wouldn't. Maybe it's a fuel pump getting ready to go out?? Need to have it in the air to undo the fuel lines.

I think there might be a vacuum leak from the throttle body. Heard a high pitched sound(whine) coming from the engine. Really would be quite odd that both of these would go at the same time. But I guess you never can tell.

It's possible you broke or disconnected a vacuum line during reinstall. Look around the area you were working and have somebody else keep car running while you trace the leak.

Transmissions can make whining noises. I would do a hard reset first. If it is a vaccum leak, then get some Carburetor cleaner and spray around where you hear that high pitch noise, and if the rpms change then thats your problem.

Ok I just found a vacuum line(plastic tube) runs from just below throttle body to power brake booster. Appears to have an end broken off at throttle body mounting point. Or is there just some sort of O ring that goes in there?

In the back of my mind I thought it might be the problem. I had the same thing happen on my xk8. It is a specialized setup. The plastic tube slides in the hole and is locked in. I will search to see if I can locate the diagram on the site.

Well there was no O ring at all. Some black bits of rubber. I had an o ring set found one that fits and it snapped in place and is pretty snug. Hoping that will do it. Will reinstall throttle body and hope for the best....
Stay tuned.

The image shows the vacuum line that goes into the hole. The end of tube slides into hole and is locked in. I think I have the part that goes in hole to lock the tube in. I check it out in the morning. Looks like somebody broke off the origional and Mickey Moused it back together. That is why it came loose so easily. I don't remember how but I recall reading post of alternative fixes.
