I just got mine today and it is great for the fact you can actually see the lights functioning on the OBDII scanner (ELM 327 in my case). You may say, so what, ...well, I purchased another scanner a month ago and found it wasn't working after doing everything the seller said to try. I couldn't see if the lights were coming on because it faced the transmission well. I even tried to slide a piece of paper behind it to try to get it to reflect, finally I determined it had to be bad.
Now I can lay the new device, with the extension, on the center council and verify its linked and talking to the app...its 3.9 ft long...they run between $8-12 on Amazon. Well worth it I feel. I may even fish it under the center council (since its flat cable) into the storage and connect there?
Interesting. I've never had a need to, my adapter has been going strong for three years now, but it's good to know there are options out there, especially for anything that might require a visual aid. Good find.
I have purchased several and used them for B203 WDS cables that had a damaged end. I fit the extension and tape/'zip-tie' the cable. You can also fit them to IDS VCM cable when the pin needs to be removed but you don't want to modify the original. (Plums had that idea)
