I grew up in Victoria and English cars were common, particularly after the drop in the value of the pound in the late 'forties. Austin A40s and Hillmans and British Fords and Commer vans were everywhere. I heard that the A40 outsold Chevrolet in 1949 or 1950 but that could just be a rumour. Regardless, as a young teenager I would slaver over the Jaguars for sale at Plimley's, especially the XK120s, but the Mark V was pretty appealing as well. I just got my first Jag finally just last year. Not as nice as a Mark V but I am looking forward to driving it when the spring weather arrives.
Well that IS interesting. I have driven a A40 Austin an A50 Austin both manuals. I drove a 1969 Ford Consul during my holidays to South Africa. My personal favourite is the XK120. Hard to find a good one. I was driven/chauffeured in Ireland in a 1973 Jaguar XJ12(I believe it was) in lovely maroon with beige leather LWB model. My new XF is my first personally owned Jag.

newly purchased S Type in Parksville
Looking to see how many drivers are driving a real vehicle out there, looking to see the representation of Jaguar owners through-out the lower mainland to Vancouver Island to all of B.C.
Leave a little something with your model, year, and city!
NO CLASS/TYPE/YEAR/MODEL/ENGINE TYPE RESTRICTIONS!
It's time for Jaguar to be represented!

Bob Pellow in Parksville here. I bought my S Type at Jefferson's auto auction last August and have been engaged in fixing some of its deficiencies ever since. The main problem was a battery drain which I have located and repaired and I also fixed the front seat. Currently trying to fix the ashtray lid and the scuff pad on the rear of the trunk. Hope to be driving this beauty next spring and summer. My first Jag. A four litre V8. Would have loved a stick shift but will make do with the automatic.

Well, there are several opportunities to do that. First, on the weekend of July 28 you might consider putting your Jaguar on the field of the largest annual Jaguar show in North America: JAGUARS ON THE ISLAND, in Victoria. There are cars that come from as far away as Oregon and Calgary for this show. You can contact me for further information. Not to be missed
There is also a smaller Jaguar show in North Vancouver in August, and on the May long weekend, the ABFM in the Van Dusen Gardens, Vancouver.

The Jaguar Car Club of Victoria has monthly drives (besides the social aspects, one of the best reasons to belong to this club is the discounts available on parts and parts/labour). But in September there is an All British run from Vancouver to Whistler. I can post information on this when I get it.

I just found out that the Canadian XK Jaguar Registry and the Canadian MG Club will have its first drive of the season March 25th, Saturday (this might be a mistake, because they mention a brunch). Link to the club events calendar below.

Al:
Jaguars on the Island is held annually in Windsor Park, Oak Bay in Victoria. Information about this show will be found on the website of the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria (www.jaguarcarclub.ca ). There are generally about 150 Jaguars on the field. Not too many XFs so yours will be popular! You can contact me directly closer to the date and I can give you more information.
