I don't know, I've seen these Rim Repair guys fix some pretty dinged up rims. They'll tell you straight away if they can save it or not. Your issue will be those stress cracks.
Yeah, I know it's on the tire bead but, I'm just not real sure if it's even repairable at this point or if they just don't want to take the time to fix it or if it's too much of a liability. Maybe all the above. I emailed one wheel repair place and he said it wasn't fixable. Should I even take the effort to try and see if another shop would even touch it? Any recommendations who? Preferably in the U.S.
Or should I try and hunt down a good used one instead?
Long story on the wheel. I bought them a month ago from the original owner of an XJR-100 who had sold the car about 3 years ago. He had all 4 wheels in a second story warehouse. His elderly mother damaged the wheels when they were on the car and these pictures were of the worst wheel. 2 others are bent but easily repairable. He paid top dollar getting 4 brand new 19" Montreals from JLR. He allegedly got the last 4 new oen wheels on the planet.
Thanks for the link. I called that place today. The nice woman on the phone couldn't tell me if the SS wheel trim ring was on it. I couldn't tell according to the picture. I guess at this point it doesn't matter. I have one good salvageable SS wheel trim ring of the 4 at this point. I was just seeing if anybody else had some extensive damage like this before and if they had any input.

I know of a UK source on trim rings, if you need it pm me.
They're 2 piece so removal of the Ti bolts and valve should have them split. The trim rings are sikoflex bonded to the rim, if you remove them you can have the rims polished. This has been the answer for many here in the UK that have curbed BBS rims.
On reinstall use new valve seals, and threadloc on the bolts - I'm sure I did a writeup on restoring these on here years ago...
You also need to find a rim shop that has the correct machines like a Cincinnati wheel lathe - that would have the rim straight for a weld. I have a wheel shop local to me who can carry out stuff like this so it's not scrap - and you're in the USA where it should be easy to find someone who can sort them out.
Omgimali,
Thanks, I'm hoping someone can save it. I at least have that 1 rim as a backup that's on that website. I wouldn't do anything hasty that would compromise it. Maybe I'll turn it into a man cave coffee table if everybody just flat out refuses to touch it! LOL
Grandell,
Thanks for the link. I visited that site several days ago and saw that they didn't have the 19" rings either.
Sean B,
Very useful information thank you! And I will take you up on the offer for the ring source. I also saw a post where they had the rings removed and just had the painted surface polished. I have options at least!
Did you get any other options from other shops Addicted? My aspect is, if they say they can do it and can't, you really aren't losing anything for the effort.
I haven't had the time to unfortunately. I actually just got done ordering that ridiculously expensive one that was located in New York. I went to look at the one on the eBay.uk website and I didn't see it. I didn't want to be stuck with only 3 wheels and not a complete set so I just bit the bullet and ordered it. 2 of the 3 good wheels I have are in need of minor straightening so there was no question of repair. I'll most likely have all 4 wheels split and then powder coated. The question of getting the SS trim rings from the U.K. still remains. I just need to investigate. I'll post before and after photos when I get the "4th" good wheel here.
Well... I got the email from that wheel place I ordered from in NY today saying that it's on back order and it'll take 2-3 weeks to receive, refurbish and send out.
I emailed them back saying I'll take them up on their offer and good luck!!!
If anybody that's living in and around NY that has an XJR-100 and reading this, DON'T LEAVE YOUR CAR OUTSIDE!!! They'll snag your wheels to fulfill this order!! LOL!!!
A few weeks ago I remembered seeing a 19" Montreal wheel on eBay.uk that is no longer there... damn... I guess I'll have to make time to see if someone can repair this wheel. I was really wanting to see if I could get another wheel instead.

Hi all, hope you don't mind me chipping in. I have just got a full set of 5 of the Montreal Wheels, £400 (about $500 I think?), and was very interested in Sean B's post about getting the trims replaced/repaired, here's the problem I've got....
Managed to get the disks and calipers too, at a good price, so once the wheels are refurbished I will be fitting them all. Any help with how to fix these (do you need to 'split' the rims, or what? I know absolutely nothing about them except they're sort after), I would be most grateful... thanks
Paul
BTW: Got them from my local breaker's yard, so yes, I will be removing the eBay references lol!
The rim repair places are very good nowadays. Not only do they refurbish such damage, they make sure the wheel is true, ...a most important part. I somewhat recently had to have one of mine redone after getting new tires. The machine chipped and peeled the finish unbeknownst to me because it was under the center cap and then it popped onto the top side. Originally my guy did each for $100 (79 BPS), it was road rash and poor care from the PO. I took it to him and he redid it for $75 (60 BPS) plus I had gotten a full size spare and threw him a bone and he did that one for $100 and I had them back in 2 days.
That was minor work, but he was repairing one of those folks rims (30's on a Hummer) who had too low a profile (especially for a heavy vehicle) tire and appears to have found a curb or pothole and had damage similar to yours, but the whole rim was bent. Here's his site and some of the work he's done and other rim repair places are capable of fixing... GALLERY
