Elevated engine temp oddity
Out today and was on the interstate when I noticed the engine temp was elevated. No warnings or anything. I recently had the heater core, water pump, coolant tank, aux pump and hoses replaced. Got to my destination without issue and when I shut the car off the gauge looked like this.
I shut the a/c after I noticed it was warm.
Any ideas why it would stay up like that even with the engine off?

I notice that you did not replace the thermostat which can cause problems as well
as the housing which can deteriorate and cause a partial blockage.
The other possibility is the temp sensor itself also the gauge has been
described as an an idiot gauge.
There are a number of apps etc which you can buy to measure the temp much more
accurately eg Torque and an ELM 327.
Why was it necessary to replace all the parts which you have described?

Doesn't the super V8 have a metal housing? Does that break down too?

When you turn the key to the ignition position does the needle dip below the lowest line? It should mirror what the fuel gauge does as it goes through its self-test. If not, suspect you have a gauge problem rather than a temperature problem.

When you turn the key to the ignition position does the needle dip below the lowest line? It should mirror what the fuel gauge does as it goes through its self-test. If not, suspect you have a gauge problem rather than a temperature problem.

Do bear in mind that the temperature gauge is a rather odd one.
It starts to move from minimum around 65C and reaches the halfway point at 85C
From 85C to 115C it stays on the halfway point ie it doesn't move.
From 115C to 125C it moves from the halfway point to maximum.
So it looks to me as if the pointer has somehow become shifted up by one division.
