While I contemplate my first move to make the outside pristine on my new 2014 XKR convertible, what do you recommend for interior car mats to keep the originals looking good? I've only purchased big heavy rubber mats for my other cars (look nice, but this is a Jag, ya know?) so wondered if there were some nice two-tone options out there (given the all black interior) that aren't your regular Auto Zone Ford F150 looking things. I don't plan to drive in the winter with this one...
Thank you,
GR

I used to think that way until I realized I don't want to save the car for someone else. So I would use the OEM mats and when they wear out just buy another set.
ihave custom mats but also use clear rubber weathertech type mats above those. i'm a bit silly about preserving the car but don't hate me
You should probably protect the plastic matts by saran wrapping them. The oem matt protects the cars carpet, the plastic protects the matt that protects the carpet, the saran protects the matt that protects the matt that protects the carpet.
I usually go on Amazon and order a cheap pair of mats that match the color - usually for about $10 and throw those in on top of the OEM ones in case I'm going somewhere that may have some loose dirt or something, or going somewhere and leaving it with valet.
I guess you're right, buying a new set when these wear out, given I'm not driving in the winter and hope to avoid muddy baseball fields and such when driving it places, is the way to go. Unless the mats I find make the interior look better, two-tone and all.
Wouldn't mind a little gray or something to break up the black monotony. Shiny black dash too. Is that called Piano Black, I forget. But yeah, no plastic on lampshades or couches here. lol
The wife purchased a couple terry cloth bath mats close in color, folded in half then sewn closed for putting on top of the mats. We use them this way when we are on road trips where in and out of the car gets the mats muddy or sandy a lot. Normal use though we just use the bare mats.
The bath towel mats are easy to clean.....shake them out or toss them in the wash as opposed to all of the steps needed to keep the Jag mats looking new.
If you've ever had the misfortune to unknowingly step in gum and got in the car, you could probably appreciate this approach.
But I agree......don't save the car for the next guy, just keep it looking new for yourself.

And took a long drive today, stopped for a pano view at Clingman's Dome, got back in the car and, of course, had stepped in GUM! Glad I had the bath mat towel, much easier to clean for sure!

Just to even up the the claim here in 55 years of driving I have never stepped in gum.
I went w/ this company... they have 50 colors and will send samples to match up whatever you have. Quality is great and texture, hue and color pretty close to OEM.
Yeah, but then you have to look at those ugly plastic mats everyday. The removable carpet mats are designed to protect the fixed carpet in your car. It matches the carpet so that you have a high quality look that can be removed to clean or replace when needed.
For a daily driver up North during the winter I can see the need for Weathertech style mats, the nasty snow sludge and salt is everywhere.
If it is any consolation I do have plastic mats in my carpetless Wrangler...maybe everyone should rip out their carpets to preserve those also!

Come to think of it, I don't even notice it on a daily basis and only notice it when I vaccume once in way. My local Lexus dealer always washes and vaccumes the car after any service. So I rarely get to remove the plastic protectors.

I am in Phoenix AZ and it rarely rains and little chance of getting dirty.
