manual rear spoiler deployment

manual rear spoiler deployment
I noticed that the rear spoiler only manually deploys when I hold down the spoiler button when I am parked. If I am moving, the spoiler button does nothing. Is that the case for everyone, or is something faulty on mine? Of course mine deploys automatically at highway speeds.

So this is the basic premise to take total manual control of the spoiler:
There's another thread on unplugging the spoiler motor via a connector in the hatch, left side near/above battery somewhere but I do not think it has been found yet. Assuming that those are the exact same pair of wires that go to the motor (test it) then it can be unplugged and the "to motor" wires in this fantastic drawing can be connected there. If not, then a pair of wires need to be routed from the spoiler motor to inside the car.
For the rest, 12v and ground are available anywhere and the button can be put near the driver.
This power window switch was how all power windows systems worked for a very long time, and still is in cheaper vehicles. Nowadays everything is networked to reduce use of copper. Example:
The switch is in technical terms a "momentary, double pole double throw, center off".
The spoiler uses limit switches so it auto stops at the end of travel. To do it right....These should probably be monitored -- meaning even if you are holding down the button, reaching the end of travel should cut off power to make it move in that direction. I have not messed with it to see what happens if you were to continue applying power to the motor at end of travel. It might have a sort of slip clutch action built in, or just stall, either of which would be fine but not as elegant.
