My Jaguar will not stay running

Hello Nina here from Beebe Arkansas and I am new here.
I have a 2003 Jaguar XJ8. When I bought my jag would not start and I was told that it was the fuel pump. (Yes we got it extremely cheap). We checked the fuel pump and it was in pieces inside the gas tank. We replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter. The car will not run. We have changed the relays in the trunk. The guy working on it says that he checked the inertia cut off switch. It is getting gas to the rail and it starts but it won't stay running.once the gas is used, it acts like something is telling it ok we don't need more gas. I have checked and replaced alot of stuff. What else can be causing this?
Thanks everyone,
Nina

Hi Nina
As your car is a 2003, the year a model change occurred, we need to know what model series it is. Jaguar have been calling their top saloon car the XJ since 1968 ! My XJ6 car is the 7th iteration, and made of aluminium. Your car could be the X308 series, made of steel, with a 4.0 litre V8 engine, or the X350, made of aluminium with a 4.2 litre V8. So what is it ? If you don't know, post a photo on here.
As regards your fault, normally with the X350 series cars, the engine control unit can detect things are wrong and post a fault code. Do you get any fault lights or messages ?

As JagV8 stated you would need the X308 forum:

Best regards,

@kbusby1989 OK, Then, who exactly are you talking to?
May be you should put a list of people you do not care to hear from, so we all know. I figure my handle will be on that list

Dear kbusby1989,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums!
The last we have heard from Nina Jo Clark in this thread was in 2017, so rather than telling another member, "I wasn't talkiing to you," perhaps you would do well to consider the advice of any member who will kindly respond to you at all in 2023.
Please start your journey here by visiting the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you proper welcome.
Second, please read all the information at this link:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...-up%2A-241802/
Then, and only then, please reply to this thread and tell us the year, model and engine displacement of your Jaguar so we can help you determine which forum is correct for your car.
Cheers,
Don
