Rear shocks are rattling. They are loose and not providing damping anymore.

Just do a Bing and/or Google search for Jaguar X308 rear shock dampers and most likely the first couple will be what KC and CharlzO stated.

+1 on Rockauto, even from the other side of the world .
Had to wait 3 weeks as they were out of stock, but their price for Bilsteins were by far the lowest anywhere!

By the way, the rattling is most likely the lower shock bearing, but shocks come with new upper bushings anyway.
Just be ready to replace the big donuts if needed, they need to be ordered separately.
Mine were in good condition though.

Jaguar sell the rear suspension components new, Uppper bushings are between £5 & £10 depending on which one you want and the Donuts are £25 each. However these are UK prices which see, to be less than elsewhere in the world. But as stated in my thread on the matter it's better to pay a bit extra for OEM than risk a pattern part going wrong.

Well, I considered Jaguar several times, but always seem to end up with Rockauto.

It very much depends the product, but while we are at suspension, look at this:
Front / Rear shock (OEM = Bilstein B4)
Jaguar: GBP 135 = USD 181
Rockauto: USD 97

Waterpump (OEM = Airtex)
Jaguar: GBP 134 = USD 180
Rockauto: USD 34

I am sure there are other cases where the reverse is true, but it makes sense to check what is available, what was original OEM, and then check prices.

Only on my suspension I saved >USD. 400 (!) by buying from Rockauto, not from Jaguar.

Eric can you confirm it's the white impeller model with alloy/rubber gasket? That's one part that should be replaced like for like. But the Bilsteins sound a bargain, do they stock Cats versions at rockauto?

For some reasons I did not make pictures of the new pump when I upgraded the coolant system with new pump / crossover pipe / alloy tower etc., so I need to reply you from memory.
The old pump was OEM Jaguar, with black vanes, and the extra o-rings.

The Airtex replacement is of a slightly different design, with metal replacing some plastics, with white vanes and a "paper" gasket.
From what I googled before, I understand the Jaguar replacement pumps were upgraded in this way.

The box came with a paper inside related to replacement.
I forgot the exact wording, but looked like it was heritage to a recall, put the Jaguar logo on top and it could have been 1999 ...

Finally, the only thing which worried me initially was the gasket.
I however installed it anyway, torqued it up, and kept an eye on it.
No problems 13 months on, and that is from driving in mountainous tropical conditions with temperatures of 35-39C during the summer months.

On the Cats version shocks, no, not so much luck.
I checked for my friend with them some months ago, they don't stock them, and were not willing to add them in the future as well.

I had lousy luck with the Airtex WP; found AC Delco better and cheaper.

Try MotorCar Ltd for the shock mount parts.
