Strange 06 cruise control

Strange 06 cruise control
I just drove my new purchase home from Tennessee today and it took me awhile to determine that it has a speed limiter instead of the typical cruise control.
If I set the limiter at 80 mph the car will not exceed that speed even if I press the pedal to the floor, but it will not hold that speed if I lift my foot.
I don't care for it but will learn to live with it and was wondering if this an exclusive for my car or do others have it.
It also has a carbon fiber dash and front badge but regular sill plates, so I don't think it's a carbon fiber edition, but without the build sheet-who knows?

Rj , that feature perplexed me when I heard of it. Several kind people explained that it's invaluable in areas where they use photo radar. It's awfully easy to forget your speed and the next thing you know you get a ticket in the mail.
Oh well that's one good thing about new jersey, they haven't started that yet.

Thanks guys, I think I have lots of entertainment ahead. I definitely do not have standard cruise control with the switch off and the check rear lights comes on after a few minutes. But I don't think the brake switch is faulty, because I do have ASL.
I also would like to find a 4.2 owners manual but it may not be available as a download.
I struggled with a cruise control problem in my 97 for three years until I finally found a bad ground connection in the steering wheel switches, and here I go again.

I finally got my Autoenginuity program to connect today, and found nine codes stored, one of which was C1446 brake switch, so that may be the problem. Much as everyone complains about changing the switch I would welcome that simple a problem.
Next week I'll get the car registered, go for a drive and see if that code comes back. I know the PO tried to start with a dead battery and then jump started so some of the codes may not repeat.
