How is the arm rest removed?

I would like to temporarily remove the arm rest from my 2015 coupe. When the arm rest is raised there are four knurled (what I assume are machine screws) studs visible back by the hinges. My gut tells me that I will need to unscrew each of these but they won't budge using finger pressure and I fear I will scratch and mar them if I use something like needle-nose pliers. Am I on the right track here? How is the arm rest removed?

I reckon you are on the right track.
The Workshop Manual centre console removal procedure simply shows a pic of the raised armrest with the four studs/bolts/screws highlighted (look closely and you will see they are about 3 cm long and go right through to the other sides of the hinges), so obviously they can be removed.
But exactly how you unscrew them without risk of damage is the $64,000 question!
Very carefully with needle nosed pliers may be the go.

+1. Those pins are pressed in. It appears the forward pins can be removed with a drift pin from the outside, and then the hinge can be lifted to offer sufficient access to drive the rear pins out, also toward the inside.
