Yeah that xjs is pretty close by for me, might check it out. Hopefully the engines not trashed. If I can get it more around a $1000, I might pull the trigger on it, we'll see I guess.

If the engine turns over with a wrench and the price is close to $1000, it might be a good deal. Completely removed and on a wooden pallet I have seen just the pre-H.E. engine and Borg Warner transmission for up to $1500 online.

BTW: Someone needs to come up with a better term for 'pre-H.E.'. How about T.I. for terribly inefficient?

True, I've had older carbuerated v8 cars before and I can't imagine how four more cylinders would effect gas mileage but its gotta be a about massive hole to throw all your money into.

I like that idea. The extra four cylinders are actually four black holes that suck up money. :-)

few pix of cars that i got for nothing(NO money), and no more effort than to get them off the property!

why pay money for worthless cars, why pay money when you can get them for nothing?

my 78 XJS-c ,RHD , no charge just get it gone!

also 1975 XJC coupe V12 , 4 speed manual trans ,engine was complete rebuild , along with gear change to 3.54 LSD. same just take it out of wifes backyard!

i did have to buy the old OPEL ,$75. USD.

i'm from a different generation , have totally different perspective about living!

in the past 70years , there no way i can guess how many cars were just given to me, dozens.

i will admit its hard to explain, but is what it is!

or is it the LUCK of the IRISH in the new world order??

and on the 75 XJC coupe pic of engine for the car, owner had a pic .

i have other cars but not of any interest.

Well I went to look at that xjs yesterday, doesn't look to bad the interiors a mess though. I checked fluids and the trans and oil were full, oil looked a little on the brown side, but the trans fluid looked good, nice and red. I couldn't see how much coolant it had, hopefully thats not a bad sign. I also took off the oil fill cap on the cam covers and the timing chain looked brand new, no rust, seems like a good sign. It didn't seem like they had the right keys for it or else I would have attempted to crank it over. The drivers side brake light assembly is smashed to bits, no dents or digs in the body work aside from the tail light, no rust either, pretty clean and straight from what I could see.

I put in an offer of $1100, waiting on a call back, I'll let it stew for a couple of days and call back if necessary. Looks like a decent project car, would love to own it, hopefully I won't have to come up to far, that two grand they want for it is way to steep a climb for me.

Good luck. Should I call and offer $750, so they accept your offer faster? :-)

let me add; another piece that was no charge, except some labor involved, came into shop for rebuild of engine Detroit 6-71 Diesel!

well removed engine and called owner it needed major work, he ran it on interstate WITHOUT OIL! he said i'll get back to you! OK.

i waited couple weeks, and called him OK again, got busy on other jobs, put it outside storage, time went by and 6/8 months later he came in with ownership title, signed it over to me, and its yours.

well seeing as that was type of business i was in , had a SPARE engine in back shop, installed it ran perfect, had myself a nice already converted BUS motorhome, inside was perfect!

altho not upside down.LOL Grr.

see if this comes out properly? TAH DAH!!! not bad for no money ,YES some labor, let me mention i had over 200 diesel and gas engines in a warehouse close by! me and my best tech could change an engine in under 3 hours!

that bus would cruise at 75MPH all day and all night, she carried 125 gallons of Diesel to give 1000+ miles without stopping, finding fuel back in the 1950s was far and few between toilets(which it had onboard). altho i had it from 1988/1994, then the Hypnotic trance of the Jaguar crept in!

sounds like plan!!

a Yacht that was a great deal for me, 63ft length custom built wood in 1930 ,45ton weight. full African hand crafted mahogany inside , beautiful condition! really cant describe workmanship! built for a multi millionaire, and always owned by same types(except me).

twin Detroit 6-71 diesels , hydraulic trans, ,600 gallons fuel, 400 gallons fresh water

it was a true Yacht not some old fish boat, 2 toilets , full size bathtub/shower. all stainless steel galley, two refridge/freezer, 10 KW generator!

me and friends cruised muti times east coast of USA , including Florida Keys , Bahama islands, Carbbiean islands. it was a two and half deck Yacht.
can you pik me out on roof hands in air, entering Bahamien waters, see in back ground islands!

not fast by todays standards , but very comfortable, slow and easy!

OK how did i end up with it?

reading sunday paper , boats for sale, person was asking $20,000, for it (way out what i had). WOW must be missprint, called and made apponiment for tuesday morning.

drove to marina where it was docked, looked quick out side(cant be true).

owner drove up Chaffeur driving,a very old man mid/late seventies.

we talked about boat , no mention of money, i said i'd sure like to have it but all i had was 7500. cash , he said yours ,here is title signed , BUT you have to get it out of marina by saturday!

i asked why so soon , get this , he said MY SON is having a big party on weekend OK HMM,

but there are NO girls allowed, OH *****, Gay bunch.

i located a captain to operate it, monster boat.

across bay to another marina, .

had the yacht appraised , roughly some where between 200K/ 250K, i was elated.

so again some undescribeble forces at work , me young and dumb didnt know it till recently, to retire and look back at life!

If anyone comes across a free black bumper XJS, let me know. :-) I have no space left, but for a parts car I would find a way.

One of these appears to be a black bumper car in awful condition. I hope the sales price is what he is offering to pay someone to haul away these poor specimens.

The black bumper car would be nice for parts. But shipping to Minnesota is $1000.
