#142
update on jag build. Got the motor mounts welded in. Buying a new starter to test run the motor while it's out of the car and brought the trans to Aamco to have some barb fittings installed on the cooler lines so i can run custom lines to a custom cooler set up.
installed turbo
It's slowly coming along.

Wow I wondered what was behind all the sheet metal! You made a real, damn big hole! I'm going to have issues with the areas just outside where you've cut as My headers swell out to the sides before they come in toward the block and go down through the engine compartment. I don't think I need as big a hole as you've made but I'm going to have to do some Surgery! Thanks for the pics.

Hi, I have actually seen someone put a 12 valve cummins in a XJS. So it can be done. I run a 12 valve cummins in my 94 dodge 1 ton a great engine with low horsepower but tons of torque. He didn't get a fast off the line car but it cruises at 90mph at 2000 rpm's because of the 2:88 gears in the Jag. But it is horribly nose heavy . Have lots of fun with your project. The second gen cummins has a better style injection pump. from the color of your engine I would say it is a 185 hp engine not from a pickup.

Damn, didnt know someone else beat me to the punch.
I knew it was the first gen cummins, and i know about the better p pump
Anyway, small update! Managed to cop a big turbo off of a cat engine in a local junk yard. Excited to say the least. Engine is still at NJDRP for storage. cant work in the cold weather right now

My son has a 95 Dodge 4x4 powered by the Cummins. It has pulled some really bog loads. Many, many miles. Still plenty of power. Manual transmission. Son says better than the Allison autobox found in many.
Way back when a Cummins powered car raced at Indy. A local guy drove it. didn't win, though.

Yes as I remember soon after his last posting. He got tangled into a Divorce, and was trying to sell it all off very cheap. I think he was having to move, and had no where to store it. I know there is another thread on it somewhere.
