Who makes the OEM x350 filter...
Just thought I would share the evidence I have found that, to me, shows the oil filter spec'ed for the x350, XJ8 (C2C41611) is in fact made by MANN (MANN W 713/29). I think it's for the XJR too.
Not sure if everyone here already knows this, but notice the following:
- both made in Germany
- both have a bent tab design
- both have the same crimp ring style
- both have the same filter paper color and inner features
- from all the images I've seen, they have the same dimensions

Looks like you're on to something! Personally I prefer the Royal Purple filter, despite being hard to get. I've probably watched too many oil filter cut-up videos to be honest but from what I've seen data wise, they're as good or better than the Amsoil filter. Can't say I've ever used a K&N filter, but I know a lot of people like them. Just my 2 cents!

If you continue your research on OE Jaguar parts sourcing you will find the filter is manufactured at one of the Mann plants in Poland.
Under EU regulations, it qualifies as 'Made in Germany' because it is packaged there. No reason for the actual manufacturing location not to be applied to the item but presumably Mann (or Jaguar) believe Germany is more prestigious source than Poland in the minds of end users.

For decades Mann has been a filter OEM for Jaguar (and BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and many others). Mann oil filters feature both anti-drain-back valves (or "return stop valves") and bypass valves.
For those interested in such things, in 2016 Mann+Hummel acquired the parent company of Wix and Filtron.

Cheers,
