Default XKR 100 Brembo Caliper - Looking For A Brake Line

Good Morning,

I have a set of Brembo calipers that were removed from a wrecked 2002 XKR-100. On one of the rear calipers, the line that goes from one side of the caliper to the other is broken as seen in the picture. I went by a local speed shop and they told me that with the line being as short as it is, they wouldn't be able to make the bends without kinking the lines.

Or does anyone know where a new or used replacement line would be available? If not, I may need to just be on the lookout for a replacement caliper.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Rob

I am not aware of a separate part# for this, I think it is part of the caliper. AFAIK, brake line is readily available at most part store for pretty cheap in various lengths. The tools to make bends are also everywhere. I agree the tight bends are a challenge, but you can always try, including with heat. You can use a plumbing line cutter for cutting these to length. Last, you will need a flaring tool for the ends. Harbor Freight has a set. Generally speaking, being able to handle brake lines is a good skill to have., but expect this to be a challenge.

If you decide to get a replacement caliper, let me know if the old one becomes available for sale.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

After looking further at the picture, it looks like the bends on this broken lines are looking much worse because of the accident. Have you shown the other caliper to the speed shop? It think it is basically a big U bridge between the caliper halves, so it should not be that hard...

You can make very tight and close bends with this simple Laser Brake Pipe Bender:

I use this type:

It allows better control of the pipe. Search for 'miniature pipe bender'.
