2000 Jaguar XK8 Convertible
Looking to see if there is interest out there in my 2000 XK8; I've owned this car for a little more than 3 years and it has been very reliable. I drive it as much as I can in the summer but lately it's just been me because my family doesn't fit in it anymore. The car is in decent condition and runs great. It has a bunch of the usual XK8 charms... Has been converted to manual top latch, has a patch of wear on the driver's seat, the trans makes a little whirring noise when cold.... It spent most of it's life in California, so absolutely no rust. The top is in great shape as well as most of the paint. It has a section of chipped paint on the front bumper due to another motorist practicing his parallel parking (and he didn't leave a note). Also has another 2 years OR ~95000 miles on a transferable extended power-train warranty. I absolutely love this car and wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. Looking to see if someone out there is looking for a decent XK8 at a fair price. Hoping to find an enthusiast who understands the quirks of these cars and will take care of it and enjoy it. Please reply with questions. I would also appreciate feedback on any opinions about a fair price.

A quick look through Craigslist in my area shows the following XK8's:
1998 100K miles - $16999
2001 45K miles - $15000
1997 45K miles - $14900
2006 49K miles - $18500
2003 128K miles - $10900
1997 124K miles - $14500
These all seem pretty high to me, I was thinking around $8000. KBB shows $5500, but I never see them that low without serious issues. Looking for a reality check here. What's the realistic price range for XK8's these days? Thanks.

Those Craigslist prices are someone's dream. I would guess from your condition description that a new transmission (or major overhaul) is in the future plus everyone is looking for a flawless exterior. You are probably in the $6,000 to 7,500 range.
Here is your competition.

Just my opinion.

OK. The Jag is up on my local Craigslist at $6500. I'd probably take $6000 from a member. Otherwise it will get daily driven until I store it away in a barn for my great grandchildren to discover

Reworked the CL ad and price is now $5999. So far have gotten a lot of interest from people far away wanting to buy the car unseen through paypal...I'm not sure there is anyone legit on CL anymore.

Still trying to figure out the right price range for this car. Any suggestions as to what a fair price is? Three new scammers today but no legit shoppers. I just lowered the price to current KBB at $5213. Not sure I really want to sell it that low, but I don't think long term storage will be good to this car. I realistically can't use it for 5-6 years until my youngest is out of a car seat. Anyone have any experience with long term storage on these cars?

Sorry, I wanted to clarify. Car is not sold but is no longer for sale. I won't deal with Craigslist at that price and will just drive the car until I come up with a long term plan for it. Thanks.

Hi, car is back up for sale. I daily drove it all last summer, paying close attention to the trans behavior (Thanks DaveC!). I finally decided that it has some kind of pressure control issue. It is currently at a specialist trans shop getting a full rebuild. If someone is looking for an XK8 with a fresh trans, I should have it back by March 26th. Current mileage is approx 111000. When I get it back I'll add the rebuild details and final rebuild price in case anyone is curious. Looking to get about $6000 for the car.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Crack in Valve Body (top-middle)
Update: Still in the shop, trans is disassembled. There is a crack in the valve body and it will need to be replaced...Shop is waiting for parts.

Trans Shop Invoice
Car is back from the trans shop and drives like new. Total cost was a little more than $3000. PM me if anyone has any interest in this car for $6000.
