Change your e-diff fluid!
#22
Just changed mine this morning, took about 1.5 hours. Absolute piece of cake up till reinserting the fill plug while running lol. All my bolts and drain plug came right out with no issues.I do think it has been changed prior. (Not certain but everything came out to easy). Shifts better yada yada, I give this a 2 out of 10 in difficulty up until you start the fill process while car running, then a 6 out of 10 just for the difficulty in getting the fill plug started while exhaust is hot.
Thanks for all the tips in above posts!

EDIT: Further research found the Jaguar Part # C2D3650 and it is $36.38 so for $7more than the LR Fluid more I know I am getting the right stuff, plus you only need 2 quarts and it is not changed that often.
I would also assume this different E-Diff fluid probably has the Friction Modifiers, will read up more at Castrol to confirm (or not). So I am not sure adding more Friction Modifiers when the lube already has the recommended amount is going to be the best idea.
Hope that helps,
Dave

Thank you for the info on fluid specs.
Do not fill the differential with lubricant up to the filler plug. The filler plug is only used to fill the differential with lubricant, and not to act as a level indicator.
Make sure the correct specification and quanity of oil is used.

The Jag part #C2D3650 @ $36.38 a quart is and the LR Part # is LR019727 @ $31.88 a quart , pretty silly for the same Quart of Fluid.
Happy Saturday,
Dave

Hope you are doing well! I look forward to the time when we can get together and talk XK.
I haven't notice an issue with mine, but I have no record showing it had been done, it just makes sense to do it.
Enjoy this beautiful weekend we are having, sure is nice outside!
Cheers,
Dave

Trans and e diff change. I called Jaguar in Tampa today to see what they would charge me to change the transmission fluid and do an E Diff change. It took some time for them to get back with me and they told me they were both closed systems. I asked, what if you had a transmission leak? They said they would replace the gasket and the filter and put in about 8 quarts of oil at $60 a quart. He said there is no scheduled maintenance change for either of those areas from Jaguar. He said that if there is a problem with either one of those, they normally replace them. I told him, that’s not a great option if you’re an owner who’s car is out of warranty. Hey said, I see what you mean. But I checked with the master mechanic here and that’s what he said.
So my question to the forum is Jaguar says neither one of those should ever need replacing. How do you feel about ? A partial tranny change by dropping the pan replacing the filter versus a complete flush? (for a car with 67k) In the old days they said to never do a complete change. My Jag has 67k miles and my was a preventative measure.
What are your thought about this unspoken maintenance need?
2. And if you moved forward, how do you know how many qts does it take for a full change vs just dropping the pan and doing a partial? And how do you check what is in there? Thanks
