Thank you Nilanium, I've found so many conflicting versions.....................
This site seems to say the opposite.....eShocks.com: 2001 Jaguar XJ8 L
Anyone confirm?

Understood, but which is the hard shock and which is the soft shock, it seems that no one really know, certainly not Summit Racing, and maybe even not Bilstein themselves?

Buy one of each and compare . I wish it was easier in this unconnected world between internet numbers and the real physical world . Sometimes it is too complex a concept to effectively deal with . There is a a Youtube video on the test stand to see the difference in the " rebound response " as a Bilstein video but will have to find it later . If you get down to the physics of the mater Bilstein offers a overhaul kit to rebuild with seals and replacement orifice valves using your original shock main body cylinders . But this approach takes more sequential time on your repair map for your part , but can save you some money and give you some pride that you are responsible for the resulting ride .
Oh , Oooooooooooooh . I almost forgot the difference between the CATS or air pump adjustable ride on the different versions on the X308 that adds a bit of complication , but easy and cheap to deal with . I didn't design it , I just deal with it .
As to the 7100 , B4 , B6 series I was never able to clarify but is the same principle
Rebuild kit below for 7100 series ;

Lots of threads on X308 shocks: everything I ever saw shows the black shock as comfort; green as sport. I bought mine from Allshocks.com; counter guy was super friendly, recommended the sport as it would tighten up a worn suspension (had 64K on it at the time). Sent the green ones. And their price was much, much lower than anyone else.
But . . . notice from their web site they no longer support Jags.

I was really surprised how floppy the Bilsteins that came with my XJ8 were (comfort Blacks) compared with the Bilsteins I put on my XK8. No wonder the XJ8 rides so nice.

And yet they don't................................
All I can think is that this is a typo on their site, because if I type in a different year, which I didn't think of doing because my car is a 2001, then the reverse is true.
