Vacuum Lines
#2
There should be a sticker under the bonnet on one of the flat surfaces that details the engine vacuum lines. If it is worn away you can got the the "How to" section and at the bottom of the page download the Shop manual. It is the last listing at the bottom of the page.

Do you have a vacuum leak problem? The common culprits are the PCV hose to the manifold, the IMT vale O-rings and the brake booster line.

On occasion I receive a message that the cruise control is not available. It comes and goes. I thought maybe it was a vacuum leak.
Also on cold mornings below 45 degrees F the engine runs very rough and wants to die. I have to depress the gas pedal and try to keep the RPM's above 1,000 until the engine warms up. Currently since it's a lot warmer outside I have no issue at all with the rough idle at start. However I still get the random message about the cruise control.

Jim Burke: You're probably looking at the vacuum line running from the top of the intake manifold, next to the throttle body, back to the firewall, next to the brake master cylinder. That's the purge line for the evap system, pictured in this post, under and perpendicular to the brake vacuum line:

Your X-Type's symptoms clearly point to a vacuum leak, but not likely from the evap purge hose. You've already fixed 2 of the top 3 vacuum leaks on our X-Types: PVC hose and check valve in the brake vacuum line. The 3rd leak - the IMT O-rings is likely the problem. Many threads discuss this leak and repair because it's so common:

Jim Burke: The part number is C2S40669 for IMT O-rings.
Here's a supplier: Control Valve Seal by Motorcars Ltd part C2S40669 - MotorcarsLtd.com
A independent mechanic near me who specializes in European cars had them in stock for ~$3 each as I recall.
