Mina RS Rear Wing

UPDATE!
I just got back from dropping my spoiler off at a paint shop, it will be ready mid-next week.
Since I was out in the Jag I figured I'd try to video the ACC coming to a stop, and it was a mess. I couldn't get focused on the dash, my knees, outside and whatever else that would be watchable, mostly due to position and white balance.
ANYWAY, the first time I tried was at 52 mph to a stop, and I got the INTERVENE message and the cruise quit at about 12 mph. WTH???
I tried again from about 45 and the same stupid thing happened.
Ohhhh, Lordy, was I going to have to eat a steamy pile of Crow? DAMMIT!!!
I tried one more time, from 39 mph, just cuz I was on a 35 limit road. Dude ahead, dude ahead of HIM, and another just took off from a stop sign........
I slowed, slowed....... slowed..... and I was waiting for that stupid INTERVENE to come up..... but my car stopped nice-as-you-please. Dead-stop, then it started to creep forward.
EDIT: OK, maybe it isn't so much SPEED dependent, but the rate of the deceleration. I'd need more controlled situations to test it all out
HA!
So anyway, I tried again but never ran into a stop-situation on my way home.
What I understand now:
From 40mph and above, it'll apply brakes until 12 mph then release and have INTERVENE pop up.
BELOW 40, and I guess as long as there isn't an ABRUPT slowing, mine will slow-to-stop then release.
I'll still see if Mandrake will verify.
Oh yeah, R-S spoiler thread....
Yep, next week sometime and I'll put that sucker on.
MTF.
ANOTHER EDIT: Well, huh... all this time I thought my car was Lunar Gray and never bothered to verify. When I got the code for the paint shop it was "LMN", which I guess is "Pearl Gray Metallic" Also called "Gunmetal" on some sites. I didn't even know there was such a thing.

So back to the spoiler . It almost sounds like between your labor and materials and not the paint shop you'll have another $500 in this spoiler. Maybe you should ask Mina for a rebate.
BTW I went through a similar game with my old XJS. Got a body kit consisting of front/rear and side skirts with the XJS wing. Cost around $1200 for the kit and $200 for shipping. Had to go to my body guy and he found the front cover was way to small. Call the guy who molded it and he said he must have pulled it out of the mold to soon . He made me another on and charged me $250 for shipping. I was pissed. The body guy got me for $1000 for mount/fit and paint. I learned a lesson on that plug and play needs to be investigated before I leap into something in the future.

Also, the paint will cost just over $200, including tax. They are going to do another guide coat and flatten, just to ensure that their good name isn't in my hands. Mina charges $135 for paint, but I'm sure that's a basic job that I wouldn't have been happy with anyway. Since they seemingly never do it ANYWAY, that point is moot.
In my hands, shiny and ready to install will be about $450. Maybe a bit much since the install will take some work, but I don't know how much a painted and shiny OEM unit would cost since I couldn't buy one, and it'd have to be painted also.

Anyone have any experience with getting dents out of plastic?
Not a Mina one but I fitted my jaguar rs rear spoiler and didn't notice at first but looking from the side, when the light catches it, there are several tiny dents/dimples.
I wondered if it was due to over tightening the screws/bolts but I've slackened them off and no difference so probably not!
Really frustrated as it's just not perfect! Not sure if we're there when picked it up from the spray shop or not? You don't see them looking full on, only from the side.
I can get my hand in with the brake light removed and tried warming the plastic up with a hairdryer and pressing but I haven't got the special dent remover tools. I thought about taking it back to the paint shop but I don't want to remove it again or have painted on the car.
Got a dent remover guy coming to look on Monday so will see if he can do anything? And one have a similar thing?

This is a reach, but it has worked on similar items like that for me. Get some Styrofoam blocks and cut a piece of however many needed that you can stuff inside to form the shape you want. Then leave outside it in the sun for a day or two. The hot sun during the day with the cooler night can act as a heat cycle that may get the result you need. Worse case you could leave the blocks inside and call it a day.
Hope that helps,
Dave

Is it OEM urethane or is it FRP? If after market fiber it’s the solvents in the fiber glass bubbling up from too short of a cure time and all you can do is sand and refinish. Dent techs can only work with metal panels so not much he will be able to do with it. You need a body shop.

It's OEM so flexible plastic. Plastic has a memory hasn't it. I had to stick the aerial foil on the inside but can't think that would affect it? Just can't think what might have caused it. My eye will be drawn to it now if you know what I mean. I would have thought with the right tools, might be a way of teasing the plastic but having watched them work on metal, they make it proud, them tap it back so not sure how it works with plastic?
Heat might help I guess.
If you pack a rag tight inside the spoiler, it flexes outward and helps but wouldn't look right still in a different way!
Always something to annoy you!!!

So my Mina RS rear wing was delivered yesterday. To my surprise the center is correct carbon weave! I know it is going to take some time for clean up and finish (I have the paint and clear already for it). What I don't know is exactly how to fit the upper piece to the body with out damaging paint etc. Additionally, I'll have to devise a way to effectively anchor and seal the high mount light.
If there is advice/pointers from anyone here who has finished and installed one of the Mina wings I would surely appreciate it.

OK, the XKR-R rear wing installation is completed! Yay!
It was quite an undertaking fraught with some modifications that took more than a little thought to work through. It surely would have been much easier to have had a R-S wing from a donner car but that was not in the cards for me.
I can offer lots of pointers/advise on how I went about the project if any forum members are interested. Just shoot me a pm and we can talk.
The main thing is that the end result actually fully meets my expectations and IMHO, looks really great.
