Rear Sunshade and Power folding mirror
I was able to repaired pretty much everything on the jag.
Only three things remaining.
1. My passenger side power folding mirror is dead. Does anyone have instruction on how to remove it?
2. My rear sun shade is not working. I can hear it trying to come up. But its stuck. I don't want to break it by pulling it out. Help!!!
3. My overhead console needs to be replaced due to previous water damage.
Other than that my $3500 XJR is running like a champ.

Get someone to press the sunshade button while you are pulling the shade upwards.
If they don't get much use then they tend to jam up. You might have to press the button a few times while pulling on it to shake it loose. I tend to leave mine up for extended periods or just play with it now & then to exercise it.
Regarding the mirror, it just doesn't fold? or none of the controls work on it?
They do fill up with crap, pop the glass out and spray the crap out of everything with WD40 or similar. I remember a heap of powdery corrosion came out of mine when I first gave it a clean.
Can't help you with the roof console...what damage exactly?

To get the glass out, push the inside edge of the glass all the way into the mirror housing, while gently pulling on the outside edge that is now protruding out of the housing, it will just pop off. You will need to disconnect the wires for the heating & dimming from the glass, this will give you better access to the insides for cleaning.

Question
2005 Vanden plas. Passenger mirror controls work but not the folding. It was mentioned to take the cover off. How would a non mechanically inclined person do this ?
