2004 xj8 460 532 bbf build
I cant believe how well this 460 fits, its like ford designed it to fit,
i bought the car with a blown head gasket because the lady ran it out of coolant 1100 bucks so yay!
this 532 made 610 hp 650 ft lbs to the crank, 7800 dollar engine build.
i thought i would share this, look at all the room, the one pic the engine is lying in there unbolted, the others its bolted up with jaguar mounts.
i can fit two bolts in those mounts if I oblong one hole an 8th inch.
block hugger headers have tons of room and even fit the factory exahust, no mods.
ford slip yoke driveshaft should cut and slide onto the jag shaft i hope.
i just started this build so bear with me for month or so as i have a race c6 on its way, hope it fits.

Once you get the DOHC heads out of the way the engine bay is cavernous!
Not to hijack your thread--noticed the Jag fuel rail in your pics. Any chance you could measure the resistance of that fuel rail temp sensor? Just looking for a room ambient measurement. If you're going to toss it I'd buy it from you. PM me if you can.
Thanks,
-Michael

This looks like a fun project. I have a race C6 sitting in my garage that used to be hooked up to a 700+ HP 358 Yates engine. Now I have an idea what to do if the stock engine dies. Maybe a streetable Ford SB with a newer tranny would the great swap.
I had 85 ford truck that had a built 460. You can get tons of HP and torque on pump gas, non-aspirated. 600 HP is easy.
Have fun! Post more.

I think my 2004 xj8 is plenty fast enough with the stock 294 hp engine. Runs much better then my 2001 with 290 hp . 610 hp is just scarry!
I wonder if a 460 would fit in my '72 450sl?
It's too bad Ford never hot-rodded the 460 like they did the 429. I remember an ad from 1976 or so for a Mercury Marine 460 boat engine that put out 600 foot-pounds of torque at 1000 rpm.
Anyway, Will be interesting to see how this turns out. I hope the rear axle can handle that much power.

Great!!!
This really is making a stone axe out of a scalpel. Your engine pics look like the underhood of my neighbor's '67 Thunderbird convertible (which I've seen rather too often)
Any chance you could use that lovely 6 speed ZF rather than a crude old 3 speed c6? No idea whether the bell housing would match, and you would have to bodge the TCM, I imagine
If you're really making 600HP with that huge carbureted cast iron push rod two valve lump, it must have a really big cam. Do you plan to use a high stall speed converter?
As you probably know, the open diff on these cars will make using all that torque a frustrating (and smokey) affair. There's an expensive LSD available I think (Quaife?)
Just for curiosity, did you happen to weigh the OE engine/trans vs the 460/C6 combo?
Please keep us posted as you progress with things. And, have fun!

yea there is nothing stock about this motor, lol roller rockers cam heads stroker kit balanced blueprinted port polished, 10.5.1 etc etc, im worried its too much power for the rear axle but i am willing find out, hope it holds up.

that bar is a universal engine mount from summit, it fits fantastic, i decided to not use the factory jaguar engine mounts because the engine set too high to clear hood, it sets on the cradle very nice, the ends need to be oval just enough to scoot the assembly back just a touch, right now its sandwiched in between the aluminum rails and cradle.
