Question Jaguar F-Type o2 Sensor Code Check engine light

I got a check engine light in June on my 2016 Jaguar F-type V6 S AWD Convertible, when I read the code I got a P0042 and P0142 code. AKA Bank 1, Sensor 3 o2 sensor went bad. I cleared my code a couple of times and it would stay on for a drive but then I turn my car off and then back on and drive again it turns back on. I went to the *********** because o2 sensors are under warranty by JLR for my F-type but, because my car is a salvage title (rear end impact) they will not cover my sensor. I bought the Bosch o2 sensor at NAPA and replaced it the sensor. Cleared the code and drive home fine no check engine light, then went to work the next morning, left my street and boom check engine light on again. I went to look maybe I replaced the wrong side but the two sides have different sensors. What could my problem be? Car drives perfectly fine.

Thanks

Just for clarity's sake, bank one is on the right side. Hopefully you didn't do the left... From a rear impact, the other thing that could come to mind is maybe an exhaust leak, but with how loud these cars are, I feel like that would be quite noticeable.

Yes I replaced the passenger side rear sensor (US car) the old sensor is clean and not ripped. Also my car has 14000 miles

Did you ever figure out a fix for this? I'm having the same issue at 12k miles... Bank 1 Sensor 2 code, replaced the sensor, and the code popped up after about 100 miles.

Yes, I went to the dealership and since that was the issue they replaced it under warranty. The O2 sensors have so many issues that they have a really long warranty on them specifically through Jaguar. It cost me $0

EDIT:
Im at 24400 miles and I have not had another issue yet! Have fun with the car!

Interesting. So all it took was replacing the sensor a second time? And the dealer ended up covering it this time around despite the salvage title? I appreciate the info - this code has been driving me nuts since I already replaced the sensor on my car

Workshop manual says to check the connections and pins. I get one every time I go through a car wash need to get under there and check the connector seals, just low on the priority list.

My sensors or sensor were replaced twice at 5900mi and no problems since. That was back in '14.

They're not supposed to help when the car is salvage title. I think I got lucky and the guy didn't check before doing the work. I called a couple of dealers and they all said I’d have to pay out of pocket but the one I went to luckily didn’t check.

See this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-miles-244795/

15-year/150,000 mile warranty on the O2 sensors for cars up to 2017. Mine is a 2017 and I had the same code last year, one of the sensors failed and was replaced. Likely more will fail!

I just did my bank 2 sensor 3. FYI there is an updated part number versus what is listed in Jpart. It is the same for left and right side if you want to swap sides to confirm failure. pat number T2R54607 BOSCH.
I hate my dealer so it was worth the cost to me
