Transmission Service Needed - Will This Kit Work?
Hello all! This is my very first post on this forum, but I've been lurking for a while now..
I have a 2003 STR & I've noticed it doesn't smoothly shift into 2nd & 3rd primarily & and it takes a few seconds to get into reverse.
Overall nothing too major (hopefully) but seeing as I just got the car a month ago, I'm unsure if the transmission has ever been serviced, so i figured I could swap the transmission fluid myself.
I'm looking for kits preferably, and I came across this one for sale:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/17593192242...Bk9SR7yJo-6TZA
If you were looking to do this job yourself, would you consider this kit, or would you shop elsewhere?
Thank you!

Another vote for CTSC and I regularly post this.
I have used them multiple times and they are THE ZF experts!
The CTSC-ZF Parts
Next be aware that Lifeguard6 is exactly the same as Mercon SP. So if your in the US it's a much cheaper fluid. Now Lifeguard6 has come down in price so it's not as crazy priced as it once was!
Do you know how to check the transmission fluid level? It's kind of tricky and I do this on a lift BUT more than one guy has done it on jack stands. Also note it's mandatory to have the car level regardless of where you do the service. I put a level on the bottom of the oil pan to make sure.
Here is a steel pan conversion and a service kit from The CTSC. I used the plastic pan but mention the steel one as I had thought of doing that to.
Jaguar Service Kits
Do you know about the sealing sleeve and valve body seal kit? I consider this mandatory too and you will find the sealing sleeve is leaking and note it can ONLY be changed with the oil pan off. So again a perfect time to do it with a fluid change.
Sealing Sleeve Kit
Oh and please, please loosen the fill plug BEFORE you drain the transmission fluid!!!! It's an 8mm Allen and it will be TIGHT! And I mean tight. I used a 2' long piece of pipe as a cheater before it broke loose and I would have sworn the wrench broke instead. There is little room and I had to cut a section off my right angle Allen wrench to get it to fit.
To answer if it's a DIY project yes it is BUT as always we have no idea of your skill or experience level? We do have many threads with great pictures and further suggestions too? Well worth some searches.
