evening all its my first post so please be gentle ![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
i am now the proud owner of a 2006 xk and havaea found that the door lights are not working, ihave checked the fuses and the bulbs all are ok
i took it to a inde to see if they could sort it out but to no avail.
when they had the computer hooked up to it the lights would come on but as soon as it was removed they wouldnt work.
looking at the patch they were trying to send it was for the puddle lights under the mirrors not the lights in the doors.
lookig at this some more i believe that they are called reflector lights and not puddle lights. as such does anyone have a computer that i could use for a couple of mins to see if
my guess is right. i have beer tokens as required.
i live in london/surrey.
many thanks
paul

Hi Paul,
Welcome to the Forum. You'll find lots of knowledgeable and helpful members here.
This old thread from 2015 should help your indie resolve your problem:
Puddle Light Not Working.
Hope this helps,

Paul,
You're in the UK and your 2006 XK is the first model year of the X150 series. Note that X150 models marketed in different parts of the world are equipped with different features. Because my 2009 4.2L XKR is not equipped with puddle lights under the mirrors, I'm pretty sure that your XK doesn't have them.
The link I provided in my Post #2, above, applies to your car. Read it again, from becoming to end, as all the posts are important. You did not provide your VIN, so I presumed that it applies to your XK and that previous owners decided that the fix wasn't worth the cost. A TSB is not a recall, which is usually paid for by the manufacturer because it affects safety.
For your convenience, I copied the most important text of that Technical Service Bulletin:
"Jaguar TSB JTB 00047
NUMBER: JTB00047
MODEL: XK
DATE: JULY 12, 2007
SECTION: 100-01A
Puddle Lamps Inoperative After S856
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Jaguar XK VIN: B00001-B05068
Model Year: 2007
CONDITION SUMMARY: LOSS OF PUDDLE LAMP FUNCTION
Situation:
Following the Service Action S856 software update, the door puddle lamps may cease functioning. On vehicles prior to VIN B05068, the parameter for puddle warning lamps within the CCF was not required to be set and is therefore lost if not reset.
Action:
If the puddle lamps fail to operate following the S856 update, reset the vehicle configuration parameter using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS). Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin.
PARTS: No parts required
TOOLS: IDS DVD 107 Patch File 6 or later"
Note that IDS was replaced with SDD. If I were you, I'd save my money and live without the puddle lights.

When the computer(s) go wonky, usually a "hard reset" will restore missing circuitry. I spent most of a day years ago debugging a no number plate lights condition; doing a reset brought them back. Madness - having something simple being run by computer logic. Try that - but so odd as it sounds, might resolve your issue.
