KEY FOB

Which part of it does not work?
The key fob has two functions:
1) remote, this is affected by the battery
2) transmitter that works along with the metal blade to start the car, I am not convinced this one needs a battery
If only the later does not work, you can buy just this part (make sure to get the proper frequency: 315 MHz for US, 433 MHz for most of the other markets), and keep the part with the original blade+transmitter.

My car is of US spec, and I only needed to replace the "remote" part (1 of the 4 buttons did not work)
this is what I bought: https://www.ebay.com/itm/163502766321
...and programmed it myself following TTG guide:

Thank you very much Jaroslav and Ctsemicon for you replies and the video. I am now quite confused and unsure where to go now. In the video the guy mentions that the one he bought on line had the incorrect transponder. All the 4 buttons on my remote do not work any more, I have tried two new batteries with no luck. The mechanical key opens the door and starts the engine OK.

IMO, in your case you don't need to care about the transponder, yours is OK, otherwise you wouldn't be able to start the car. (Here's me asking about the transponder couple months ago. Note that I was mistaken thinking some of the key-fobs don't have the transponder.)
In your situation I'd do exactly what I have: buy this thing, open your key-fob, toss away the half with remote/buttons from yours and stick in this new one. (I.e. put together your half with the blade/transponder and the new half with the remote/buttons.)
Then you just need to introduce the new remote to the car, as demonstrated by the guy from TTG.

I suspect the 433 MHz was exclusive for Europe. (I see in my earlier post I implied USA/315 was the special one, my bad. It seems more likely Europe/433 is the one weird market.)
I am like 75% certain the actual frequency of your car is shown somewhere in the SDD.
Also the frequency is very likely identical to the one your car's TPMS uses. Thus guys in a tire-shop should be able to verify this for you.
I realize none of these are super-solid answers.

Look inside the Key Fob Doc I attached in previous post. It lists which variants are 315 mhz and which are 433 mhz. Just pop open the original Fob, and you will see on the first line of printing (on the button half) something like "1X43-15K01-AE" . The key (pun intended) is the last two characters. All the "A?" variants are 315. Note he statement Key Fobs transmit on 315.0MHZ for US market except BD series which are on 433.92MHZ for Europe market – Therefore, for the imported Jaguar cars only 315.0MHZ remotes will work on your car:

I am becoming very frustrated. I ordered some new key fob parts on line, a PC board (433 MHZ) and the cover with the buttons on, my car is Australian so I am assuming it is European frequency. However I received the complete key. I went through the pairing process i.e.
Open driver’s door
Pull headlamp flash and hold
Insert key and turn to first position (accessories)
Release flasher stork immediately
Flash headlamp 5 times, at this point the red LED flashed and beeped.
Push any button on the fob 5 times.
The key fob still does not work, I went through the process several times with no success. I have put a new battery in the fob.
Because I didn’t receive exactly what I ordered I thought that just maybe it was the wrong frequency (315 MHZ)
So I went back to the internet and ordered just a 433 MHZ PC board which was duly delivered. Still no success. Could it be that there is an issue with the car, rather than the key fob ?
