2005 S-Type - AC Compressor
Howdy!
New to Jaguar and bought a 2005 for my daughter. The AC Compressor is shot and needs replaced. I see looking around there are a couple different types. Is there a way to tell which one I need without removing it?
I don't want to remove it, order a new one and wait. I also don't want to have to remove it, reinstall it and then do it again with a new one haha.

Welcome to the forum!
A bit more info on the car and the actual problem with the compressor (if known) will help you receive more replies.
V6 or V8? Two different types of compressor for both.
Also dryer sack will need changing and likely several of the O rings plus fresh oil etc etc.
Doing it yourself?
Plenty of posts on the AC on here.
Like most cars, if compressor has seized and damage has caused debris to enter the system to the expansion valve then its an expensive dash out process etc etc.
Any AC history of the car?

It's a 2005 so the same year as Ricks.

Thanks guys heres the new scoop.
The remanufactured compressor is wrong part, although it is listed as a 2005 Jaguar S Stype replacement AND Lincoln LS. I could make it work but for $165.00 (2nd day air included), we will wait for a replacement. I could use 1/2" spacers to make the reman work.
The good news is that it took longer to drop the belly pan than it did to drop the compressor. I spent 1/2 hour from jacking up the car to having compressor on work bench!
Ok I see I did not explain the difference in the 2 compressors below. In the yellow rectangle the bolt guides are about 4" long for the 3.0 litre engines. The red rectangle is for the V8 engines with the bolt guides at 3 1/2" long.

I’m going to buy the part on RockAuto, just need to find out which one I need without having to take the old unit off, since there will be a few days before the new one comes in, and I only have time to work on it on weekends.
Is there a place I can plug the VIN in to see all the parts for this specific vehicle?

Yes as I posted above any factory Jaguar parts seller.
Now that will only work if your buying it from Jaguar and most people don't because of the cost.
Again what is the last 6 digits of your VIN? This is how Jaguar identifies parts.
If your using after market then it's all on you. Without checking your car it's very likely you will order the wrong part. I would spend some time under the car looking for numbers and brands?
Make sure you also replace the dryer/filter sock when the compressor is replaced. Most compressors require this for the warranty to be good.

This is a daily driver so I'd only like to take it apart once if possible haha.

Yes, I would be buying it from RockAuto, just not sure of WHICH one to buy. I see 6 Groove, Ford Scroll style. Not sure which one I need haha
