Default HELP - Installing MK2 dash

I am trying to install the dash in my MK2. It is the original dash that has been revaneered. It is too long to fit.

All the wood trim in in including the two veneered covers on the A post.

Do I have to remove these pieces to install the dash??

Not quite sure what you mean by "dash". The Mark 2 dash consists of the all the various parts that together make up the dash. I suspect you are referring to the screen rail capping which sits atop the two veneered facia assemblies, one for the cubby box, the other for the speedo and revcounter. In the middle is the instrument and switch panel that folds down.

Perhaps some photos to show us your problem. It's a very long time since I assembled the interior in my Mark 2, I think it was 1986 or 1987, so my memory has faded on the order in which the varaious components are fitted.

Here is the front body fittings drawing of parts courtesy of SNG Barratr. I hope they won't mind helping out a fellow Jaguar enthusiast.

Mr Barratt does not mind. I use his stuff all the time. I asked him when I met him. I went to the UK prior to seriously starting my restoration & personally met the head honchos of all my suppliers like David Manners, Jon Skinner etc. (Jon for Jonathan. John was his Dad after whom the company is named).

I think 84lc is referring to the screen rail.
Yes, it is a good idea to remove the A pillar veneered covers.
That will give you some 'wiggle' room.
They can be replaced after the screen rail is fitted

Yes remove the "A" pillar wood but even then I found it was a struggle if you have the screen fitted. The back edge hits the screen whilst the side hits the "A" pillar and it some point you just have to force it in that last fraction of an inch on the edges.
