I have been looking around and searching, but can't find an answer to my specific question. I called a shop today asking about a price for an oil change. An actual repair shop, not some oil change place from a big chain. They can do Valvoline full synthetic for $88, or Castrol Euro oil for $157. Wouldn't the Valvoline be just fine? I'll freely admit I'm embarrassed to ask this, but here goes anyway. When I search here on Valvoline it seems like everything's about ATF, not engine oil. BTW, the car is a 2003 STR.

 

Does it meet the Jaguar spec? My guess is it won't.

 

I use a mobile1 oil, it meets all jaguar spec's. 5W30

 

I think Valvoline is just fine. The important factor is that you change the oil regularly. All the major brands are competitive.
