Default A slinky cat just crept into my garage

The '87 XJ6 I bought on BAT last week showed up last night. It's been so long since I've seen one in person or else I just forgot but am in complete amazement over the lines of this car. I expected a couple of little rust or paint bubbles but this car is clean. The leather interior is in primo condition as well. As I was expecting the wood trim veneer will need replacing but that will be for later. It only came with one key which starts the car but does not operate the door or trunk locks

. The parking brake light on the dash is always lit so I'll be checking that out so I can pass state inspection. This is my first Jag and the brakes seem rather wooden and require a lot of effort, don't know if this is normal and I'm used to modern brakes but something else I will be looking into. I drove it a few blocks from the transport to my house and I could feel the suspension through the steering wheel so will be inspecting bushings down there. Hope it's not the steering rack. I was planning on removing the leaper but after seeing it, not sure now. Super pumped.

That's a good looking car and I love the driving lights under the front bumper. Congratulations!

I love that quintessential 80s red interior. (Pretty sure I may be one of the few, but I like being different so it works!)

Thank you Thorsen. I'm fixing it up bit by bit. My BRAKE light on the dash was just the sensor on the brake reservoir not connected, easy fix. Order one each hi and lo beams that were out. One of the fog lights is out so will look at that in a moment. The battery needs a tie down bracket and I'll be doing a complete fluids flush and refill and filters. It's nice to be needed.

Thank you tergitkerd. I would have preferred red, blue or green exterior over the grey but the red interior really grabbed me. I like the grey better than I thought I would. I got lucky with this car (bought sight unseen) with the chrome, body, paint and leather condition. I'll definitely be looking into the 7" headlight conversion but right now it's just fettling around to bring it up to standards.

That's part of the fun. Many repairs are well within the realm of a DIYer on these cars. Satisfying stuff.

These are great cars. Built like a tank and drive like velvet.

Cheers

That's a gorgeous color combination! Makes me want one just like it!

Cheers,

Don
