I was replacing the battery in my 2007 XK. When I went to open the top it opened about 6 inches then stopped and gave me a "top not latched" warning. Did the manual reset and the tonneau would not latch. I went ahead and attempted to open the top and the tonneau raises then everything stops. Same error message and the tonneau is locked in the up position. Any ideas on what may be causing this?

 

Does the tonneau remain UP when the complete roof is up manually? DID you replace the battery? Is if FULLY charged?

 

The battery is brand new and fully charged. I am not sure if the tonneau will go down again if I bring the top up manually. I was trying to reset it since it acted weird after replacing the battery

 

One thing that looks odd, is the sliding cover that moves to allow space for the top mechanism, is open on the left side and closed on the right. I don’t recall when those open/close in the sequence, and maybe your left one was always stuck open, but it just caught my eye.

 

The cord that pulls it shut broke. It's on the list.

 

so the tonneau came down on its own after a bit. It's still not latching and I am still getting the "top not latched error"
