Default Trying to put Humpty back together again

As I have stated in previous posts,
I am not tech savvy at all.
Since my phone and computer
do not talk to each other, I found a way around it.

I recently recovered my headliner
(removing seats, console, shifter and door),
but before I reassemble the car - I have to repair some things before I do.

The passenger seat had a power head rest that did not work.
I did not know I had to remove everything before I could replace it.
I touched the lumbar bag tube - that broke.
the plastic tube around the recline motor cable was dust.

I bought a “parts jag”, and I am stealing parts from that.

I am also putting in the picnic tables from the parts jag.
this will be more than expected.
The seat cover is different.
The seat frame is the same.
However, the seat back will need to be
reupholstered to the correct color.

I will have a glove box (cubby hole)
That too will have to have a color change.

Changing the cigarette lighters to USB ports.
Not the insert type, actually
changing the entire socket.

Stuff like that.

Not so much a need to be tech savvy with the X300, mechanically savvy will do just fine.

No one without mechanical savvy would dig this deep! Keep us posted on Humpty's progress.

The power recline’s motor cable had lost most of its plastic sheathing, due to age. I actually found this new sheathing, it works great.
it is actually a balloon holder from the party supply isle at Wal Mart. To me, that is so ironically hilarious. But, it does work.

Sign of a true problem solver

Between the no picnic table seat back top outer edge being curved and the tabled one more square there is a cutout off the top of my head to look into before reupholstering

The tabled back shell has more squared corners that may settle into rounded front seat skin shape

There are new seat skins and not covers here :

They will supply a color sample when asked least wrong order troubles and cost

Decisions - Decisions, hmmmm
Do I change out the carpet?
As you see in one of the pics, by the passenger door it is torn (age).
I have the carpet from the VP.
It is free, but will it match well?
the VP is a 97
my XJ6 is a 95
I do not even know what the name of these colors are?!

I see in your top pic your table back shell corners fit in well to the curved seat skin top

There is an interior color code against a chart on your door data plate

Interior Code: AGD (Mink Carpet)

'97 XJ6 VP has:
Paint Code: NDM (Spindrift White)
Interior Code: NDR (Coffee Carpet)

Who, in their right mind, puts screws under a two sided taped piece of mirrored stainless steel?

that is exactly what the door thresholds are!

5 screws for the back doors, 3 screws for the fronts.

are you expected to buy replacements??

The V/P has 7 screws for the rear extruded aluminum threshold! A might bit overkill, IMO.

You will have excess, but perhaps it will work...your 97 VDP is long wheelbase, your 95 is not. The extra length will be found in the rear footwell area (and corrospondingly, in the rear doors.)

While you have the rear seat pan out , ensure you have a certain battery cable terminal tight , they come loose from reading others

On rear seat pan removal out the door , ensure you do not drag it across the door opening felt , ask me how I know

Ask questions

The battery cable terminals are under a black triangle cover in the 3rd pic

Your blue terminal ends are direct to starter connection and is also battery charging in reverse flow from the turning alternator , the yellow is to 4 fuse boxes less the trunk fuse box

Got the under seat area cleaned.
found those wires which you mentioned.
what a clever little spot to put that connection.
I am being very sarcastic right now.

thank you for telling me to check.
I NEVER would have thought to look there for that.

Finally!
I had to cut the carpet.
V/Plas is 4” or so too long.
I seamed it under the seats.
just finished shampooing it.
I use a Bissel, so it is drying.

Sorry bout it taking so long.
After putting in 10 hrs at the job……
I have a house/yard, daily drivers and
helping other people with their projects.
I live alone. So, I get to the XJ when I can.
