InControl App question

I've been enjoying my recently purchased (May) 2017 XJL, and still getting used to the features/controls. I attempted to set up my InControl account through Jaguar, but with no success. Apparently, the VIN is still linked to the previous owner. Anyway, before I go through the trouble of contacting the dealership to re-set the system, is having the InControl App available worth the hassle? I'm uncertain what functionality this delivers, so I would welcome any comments or experiences from the forum (positive and negative) about having this application enabled. Thanks.

I use it on my 2018 XJR575. As the car was originally a Canadian car, I have been unable to purchase renewals on line. So, what I do then is call Jaguar North America service center in New Jersey. The service rep then goes about renewing it for me and so far for two years now, they comp the renewal. Suggest you follow same procedure. By the way, the comp me with no request on my part.
