Default Are seats symmetrical

Does anyone know if the 1996 - 2002 XK8 driver's seat cover is symmetrical with the passenger seat cover? I ask because they look identical, and while the driver's seats go to Hell, the passenger seat is usually like new. Used passenger seat covers are always available on eBay at a reasonable cost, and if the covers are symmetrical that would be an inexpensive way to replace the worn driver's seat.

Seat back - yes. Seat bases - no.

If you need seat bases, worth bearing in mind that in the UK and other RHD countries, our passenger seat is your drivers' so if you need a base, worth looking over here for a passenger seat.

no, they are not. There are side-specific features of the cover to support the airbag that is present in one side of the seat. Additionally, there are penetrations in the cover for the tilt latch at the top, and the seat controls on the base (squab). so you're airbag would be dangerous, and you'd have holes in the cover where you dont want them.

One suggestion, is try to get a passenger seat cover from a RHD country, i.e. ebay.co.uk or a UK based breaker. They will be a left-side passenger seat on a RHD car, and that will be compatible with a LHD drivers seat.

Another is get entirely new covers from somewhere like lseat.com, which is what I did in the end, but if you want completely oem look/fitment, that probably wont give you the outcome you want.

lseat.com covers, $350.

That is only correct for cars with headrests. The non-headrest seats are identical in the upper, and different in the base.
