Default 1990 jag xjs headlight washer wiper

I am having a huge problem finding info on this. Does anybody know where the fuse is as I found a diagram saying fuse 11 is in the circuit and where the relay is. We swapped the water hoses around to see if the system is complete and water went all over the floor, We also swapped the pump electrical supply for the windscreen to see if the headlight washer pump worked and it does. Any help is appreciated!

I’m not positive on this but I seem to recall that the wipers only work when the headlights are on so you might want to see if that makes a difference for you…

You are right Ken, we have put the headlights on dip and main, turned the windscreen washer and wipers on and they work but not the headlight wash wipe.

The headlamp wash/wipe is programmed to work only after a certain number of windscreen wash cycles - in other words every 4th or 6th or…xth time you initiate the windscreen wash with the headlamps on; this differs from model to model but your owner’s manual should have a note about this feature.

Ken you are correct. That’s the problem they don’t work when the headlights are on.

As you say you have an XJS - even though this is the XJ saloon section - the relay is clipped onto the radiator top panel. The fuse is incorporated into fuse 11 in the main fuse box, which also does aircon , horn, and radiator cooling fan.
The LHS engine bay wingtop fuse box has a second fuse for the horn and auxiliary cooling fan circuit.

You are correct. But with the headlights on they do not work at present.

Thank you all for your help. The diode pack and relay are mounted behind the radiator as was suggested. On testing the diode pack is good but the relay looked like it had been rubbing against the a/c compressor and has an open circuit. I swapped it with a relay located on the left hand wing ( fender) and the headlight washers wiper worked. Relay ordered! Success.
