Default New Shift Module and Battery No Start

It's been awhile since I've checked in and I have looked for this topic with little to no good results. The shifter would no longer go into drive, so I just recently was able to replace the shifter module ( not really even knowing definitively that it was at fault). The problem is, the car sat for so long on started that the battery went dead and apparently so did the Jaguar. I tried jump starting it and it would not release the key, and did not start of course. There's something else going on. It does report that there is a parking brake fault now, when I don't remember seeing that before the surgery. I put a new battery in yesterday and of course the alarm went off, but I do have a second key to disable it at the door. I went in to the cabin and turned the stuck key to the on position, and the fault came up at that time. It would not start or even indicate that it had any intention to start even though the battery was new and fully charged. All lights on the dash came on as if it was ready to go. If you need more information: 2003, 4.6l stock 32valve

I apologize if this has already been dealt with at length, I just have not found the thread. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. The reason I decided to do something myself is because I can't afford the $650 initial computer scan that shops around here want to charge me to even diagnose. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

UPDATE (as if):

Got the key out. Yes, it was the cable stay at the bottom of the module. Finally got that sucker seated and snapped in.

Now that I got it to crank over, it acts like it's getting no fuel. And why should it be - it's been sitting for months?
I will search the threads for ideas but you're welcome to post one here if anyone is still reading this.
