Using key from another car
Hello everyone,
I came to lost my keys on my xjr. Luckily I have a same year parts car with keys!
Question is, what do I have to swap over in order to make that key work.
I have already swapped the body control module and the ignition key tumbler. I tried turning it on after this but no ignition.
Much appreciated

Ups. I have a hunch, that this might be one of those things, which you cannot do yourself.
It is possible that a Jaguar dealer (or a very capable car-locksmith) has to connect a special programmer's unit to your car via the OBDII port to let the car know about the new ignition lock with the transponder-receiver to recognize the transponder signal in the key...

Find a dealer or indy who has the software to reprogram your keys (maybe your Body Control Module too -- hopefully the correct series). Depending on how big a city you live in in Mexico, maybe a very good locksmith. My local locksmith had the software and new keys and fobs and was able to reprogram the new key and the old.

The locksmith needs to have the software to program the actual key, it costs new about £6,000 and is only now available from China. So if you can find a guy with that software then good.
Lots of guys will tell you it’s only a Ford tibby key that needs to be cut. But the key also has a chip on it. I got a spare on mine done for 40 quid.
