Default Possible dangerplease help.

Dear all,
I've recently changed the oil and filter in my 2016 F-type S, and I asked for the recommended Castrol EDGE professional EC 0W-20.
The dealer gave me Castrol EDGE professional 0W-20 but not the EC kind. What is written on the bottle is LL IV 0W-20.
Shall I go and change the oil and filter right away? or is it suitable?Thank you.

I believe you’re fine. Castrol Edge Pro was the oil originally specified for our cars. JLR came up with a new oil spec in 2018, which I think the EC meets, but I wouldn’t worry about using the older spec oil in your car.

Hmm, I’m looking at the Castrol site. Your oil is NOT ‘Edge Professional.’ I’m looking to see if it has any certification info. Interesting that the Castrol site doesn’t show ANY Edge Professional.

I see the Castrol website doesn’t list any compatible oils for my MY14 F-type.

Your Castrol Edge LL IV does have titanium, but it doesn’t list any Jag certifications. I’d ask the dealer for clarification.

That’s weird. If it’s from a dealer it should be the latest STJLR.03.5006 spec oil. I bought some from a dealer in Canada recently for doing my oil change and it was the latest. I was under the impression that was the only oil the dealer should be selling these days.

Strange

They must have changed their naming. It's the correct oil - probably just a slightly older version. Castrol Professional is indeed the right oil, they should be just fine. I have a bottle of it in my garage if you want me to take a picture

Thank you, I would appreciate a picture to compare. If it's the same oil and you are using it on your F-type then it's fine, and I have nothing to worry about.

Thank you, I was waiting for this picture.
The oil I have used is the exact same one.
I guess I don't have to worry any more.
BTW on the package it does not mention Jaguar, only ACEA C5; VW 508 OO/509 OO; Porsche C20

There are different grades of Castrol Professional. The correct one that meets the Jaguar spec is Castrol Professional-EC:

So have I put in the wrong type? Shall I change it? What should I do?

No difference in grades, basically the same actual specs, I believe they have different dyes in them. You're 100% good to go, it's the same oil. What I used was actually sold to me by Atlantic British which specializes in Land Rover.

It’s interesting that these no longer show up on the Castrol website.
