Default Need an ID on this XJ

Andrew Sullivan's got a regular blog feature where he puts up an image, and his readers have to figure out where in the world it is.

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.co...contest-1.html

The car's clearly an XJ, but what exact model and what year? The car's finish being in such terrible condition is probably another clue, but they didn't make XJ's early enough for it to be Cuba.

Thanks.

it looks to be a series 3 XJ 1979 TO 1992.

it's earlier than an 87 (US) because it doesn't have the flush mounted doorhandles.

Many thanks for the car ID! Didn't make the difference, unfortunately. Several folks were apparently able to figure out that this was a right-hand drive car (how, I just don't know), and that would narrow the country down further.

It's Tanzania, and the folks who got it got it by identifying the exact species of banana tree in the foreground, and spotting the Tanzanian license plate. Nobody said this puzzle was easy!

I now return you to your Jaguar forum, again with my thanks.
