Default 2008 x type 2.2 dpf transmission codes

Hi I'm totally new to here, but have read the forums for quite a while and I was pleasantly surprised at how much knowledge and care for each other's car issues that I've seen.... I own 2 x types a 2005 2.0 diesel which was perfect up to 180,000 miles then the usual injectors egr issues appeared, but it still runs now with 245,000 miles! Might even be a record? So I found a 2008 new shape x type with full jag service history 64000 miles on clock ,auto estate in a lovely grey colour with purple tints... I thought I would again have a trouble free car for at least another 100,000 miles! I do a lot of motorway driving 100 miles round trip to Heathrow airport 3 times a week, best thing for a diesel right?!... after 2 weeks of owning car 'gearbox fault ' popped up on dash, I had a minor heart attack only later to find it was the turbo that needed changing, I've learned through this site that with an auto 'gearbox fault' is always written on dash when the eml comes on. So to fast forward another year the egr was changed all blocked up and now to 4 weeks ago it needed another new turbo, this is all in 40,000 miles of driving car. Bear with me it gets better, so I picked up my jag from garage and the mechanic said he'd taken it for a test drive, it goes like a rocket now!!! ..oh good I thought! Drove car on the school run and you guessed it 'gearbox fault' comes up again!! So the codes I have are
p1700 transmission indeterminate failure- failed to neutral
and a code he could not read as he said it was a jaguar own code-:709H/1801 undocumented code
he checked the Ecuador after deleting codes and the codes came back!!
I must say also I had to change the 'neutral position switch' as well on the first turbo change as the code for that sensor came up as well!
I have always used jaguar oil filters and delphia fuel filters
the garage did an oil and filter change as standard when changing turbo a few weeks ago as they said the warranty'2years' on the turbo wouldn't be covered.
I drained all oil out and checked oil filter And it was not an original jaguar one so fitted myself new original filter and low ash Mobil 1 esp oil, then car was fixed for a week, then this fault came back.
Also when I drive car back from garage after turbo fix the engine cover was so hot I couldn't hold my hand on it.
now when I start the car the fan cuts in straight away!!
Please can someone help me, do I need a new gearbox now? Car has done 100,000 miles engine sounds so sweet still!!
regards Ben.

Welcome to the forum Ben,

Your post reads like an Intro and two technical questions combined. It takes some unpicking!

The place to post technical questions is X-Type model forum ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ ). I also recommend ONE topic per thread.

The code reader has to be suspect for compatabilty. 709H/1801 is not a Jaguar defined code.

Graham
