With a £4000 quote, I think I would want a 2nd opinion ! He needs to read the terms of his warranty, to see what exclusions there are. If it really is being used commercially, this may be an exclusion. I presume it was not bought from a main agent, but a car dealer somewhere, and a warranty was not purchased. What miles on the car ? Did he test drive it before he bought it ? I would have thought you had a good case against the car dealer, but you might have to get legal advice.
