Default Best extended warranties in the UK covered by all garages?

I'm looking for an extended warranty that will cover as much as possible in the UK, so that I can take it to any garage and just get them to claim on it if I have any problems.

Ideally I want around 3 years, but don't want to pay more than £500 a year, so say £1500 in total MAX, does anyone have any experiences with people like WarrantyWise, Click4Warranty, AA Warranty or Jaguars Warranty etc?

Jim (Admin) is the most successful user of extended warranty in the UK that I know. Whichever one Jim is with is the one to use - provided they have any money left after his claims!

Err thanks Graham, I think....lol

OP - As Graham says, I have a warranty on my car with AutoTrust. I bought my XJ from a dealer almost exactly a year ago and it came with this warranty package included in the deal.

Around 4 or 5 months later I had cause to make a very expensive claim on my rear differential. This turned out to involve complete new replacement at a cost of around £3500 iirc
To be fair at that price they sent out an engineer to check things over, but stumped up no problem.

About a month or so ago, I had my car in at Prestige Jaguar for an issue with the rear parking sensors and a cracked flexi pipe causing diesel fumes to enter the cabin. They would Not cover the flexi pipe saying that was excluded in an agreement with the dealership when the warranty was taken out.......the parking sensors were covered no problem at a cost of around £200

The warranty is actually up as of today, but several days ago I had a "Parkbrake fault" amber warning light on the dash and again visited Prestige Jaguar ( An Indy based in the Glasgow area ) and they diagnosed fault C1077 if memory serves, relating to en EPB fault.

Prestige advised replacing the EPB at a cost of £350 or thererabouts and checked with the warranty company, who......gave the go ahead to complete the work, again with no issues.

The work is being completed today and I should collect it later this afternoon.

In total I guess they've sprung for around £4000 or so, haven't really baulked at any of it and all from a 3rd party warranty as supplied with the car They certainly get my vote.

As for the cost?
I'm pretty sure that the dealership mentioned around £700 at the time, although I could be mistaken.

I've had a call from the warranty company a few days ago asking if I wanted to renew for another year, for around £460 iirc

Not sure, what do you think??

Thanks guys, thats great, I'll check them out and compare what they cover. Though from their site it looks like they use Car Care Plan, which is one of the best warranty providers from what I hear.

Gotta do it Jim; even if you don't make a claim at least you will have peace of mind.
They do sound reasonable to deal with.

Steve, I totally hear you and was just joshing really, it's a no brainer in all honesty.

In fact I have an intermittent "restricted performance" fault too once in a while.....this only comes on either when cold and asking too much of the engine, or when giving it some beans and the outside temp is cold.

Looks like it may be an EGR issue, that's certainly what Prestige reckon and could cost around £300 - £400 or so if that turns out to be the case after diagnosis

As I said, it is only once in a while and I know the conditions to bring it on and can avoid it, but would rather get it fixed properly of course.

On the basis that the warranty costs £460 and assuming that the EGR would be covered, that would be it paid for already....

Just renewed my warranty today with Autotrust, which I think is part of Car plan.

Had contact from Autotrust asking if I wanted to renew?
Hell yeah!!

Stumped up £460 for full coverage for another year.

If they step up for the egr issue as I'm hoping they will, it will have paid for itself at that point and anything else will be a bonus if required.

Make the call and check it out, from my experiences to date I honestly don't think you'd regret it.

So I renewed with AutoTrust - does anyone use them and service their car annually at an independent garage?

I'm hoping to service mine at a good (and cheaper) Jag specialist or independent for around £200 rather than fork out £400+ for the main dealer servicing.

Just wanted to make sure this does not invalidate my warranty.

I use AutoTrust, I believe it was me who put you onto them iirc?

I tend to use a combo of self service and also a good local Indy for my work, Prestige Jaguar in Glasgow.
You're based in Nottingham and fairly close to a really good Jaguar Indy, The Jag Specialist in Doncaster, Chris Isles
I have even travelled from Glasgow to see him for work done AND saved money whilst getting good service, may others travel from London and outlying areas, save money and get excellent service

If you do call him, tell him you spoke to me and are a member of Jaguarforums
