Default Couple of photos of my XJR

Into my second week with car now. All going well averaging about 18-20 mpg. A few issues that the dealer is sorting next week. Stop/start not working, something to do with auxiliary battery in boot. And there is a vibration under heavy braking. I suspect a warped disc or as they say in US rotor. Other than that really enjoying the car.

Looking good.

Our US members have an obsession with "warped rotors". This phenomenon doesn't appear often anywhere else across the World membership!

Even a new OE disc, checked with a clock gauge will exhibit some runoff. Cases of excessive warping leading to vibration are more often caused by sticking calipers or pads.

Hi there,

I had the same issue with my S-Type when I brought it.. I suspected warped disks but in truth it was uneven wear on the discs.. As you looked round them you could see changes in the surface between what you would expect to see and a slightly more matte finish.. this caused the pads to have different levels of grip on different quadrants of the disks - giving the really bad shudder and shake you are likely experiencing. Replacement disks and pads will likley solve this no problem..

Very best regards,
Steve

Just got the car back from dealers. Diagnosed buckled front wheels which was causing the vibration through steering wheel. Both wheels were repaired, balanced and happy to report no vibration. Stop/start now functioning. The only item that could not be stopped is the rattle from under the steering column. It’s got to go back for that. Otherwise very pleased with work done.
