Default Moving to a New Job - Dundee

I'm finally making the move. I'm currently in the US. Will be moving in May to Dundee-Scotland. Any local Dundonians have insider tips that could help? I've been googling dundee to the best of my ability, but generic answers to questions can only get you so far, not to mention student guides to cost of living don't mean much since I'm not a student. So....
How much does it really cost to live in Dundee? (a simple breakdown if anyone has it would be great)
Any areas I should be avoiding when looking for a place to let?
Any tips on letting, practices that could cost me that I should know about?
Car insurance tips? (I'm not taking the XF back, that I'm shipping home for my Dad. I'll probably be looking for something economical since the pay isn't stellar and something that won't be too costly to run and insure)
Anything else fellow dundonians, or from the wider area, would like to chime in with would be great. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the offer Mr Tee. Doesn't seem they've activated your PM yet. I'm in Dundee and have managed so far. I hope your still active on the board since your initial 3 posts.
