Removal of door sill plates from a Jaguar XJ Year 2016
#2
Welcome to the forum HARRIER69,
I've posted a link to the model forum in my reply to your Intro but this question is easily answered here.
On earlier models the tread plate inserts are glued in place and it is necessary to warm them to soften the adhesive, gently prise up one end and release them by using a length of fishing line in a sawing motion.
However, the instructions for fitting illuminated tread plates to the X351 make no mention of them being bonded in the section on removing the originals:

It appears that they can be gently prised up to to remove them but I wouldn't be surprised if they are secured with mastic.

Graham, thank you for your advice. I will take a look as I only have to remove one tread plate - rear offside door as I have a slight carpet issue to investigate and the carpet should go under the tread plate, whereas there is a fault on this rear side of the car in the the carpet is not fettled in properly. I shall take care and have a look now.

Peter
