Thanks Graham, yes Mackie's Transmissions and SNG Barratt have both been very generous with superb prizes.

Watch this space as there's more to come helping to make it a great day hopefully.

Such a shame that you can't make it, would've been great to see you there and catch up

Hi, event sounds good. I'll certainly pencil it in to my diary.

A note on publishing too much detail though: other forums have found that setting the route out in advance can land the organiser in danger of being accused of "organising a road rally." It would be best to restrict detail as much as possible until the week before the event, whereupon confirmed attendees can be notified via PM, perhaps with a link to a cloud-hosted document detailing the route.

I can dig out more info on this if it would help. It was detailed quite clearly over on Pistonheads a while ago. I'm sure the poster wouldn't mind me cross-posting it here.

Thanks Giles, be good to see you and your car on the day.

I wouldn't worry too much about the drive, we're simply going for a tootle about in the gorgeous Scottish scenery. That's way too PC for me and we're not breaking any laws
There's no real set route just an advised one that people may or may not stick to, there's no time trials, no definitive set start / end times or prizes / rewards....it's not a rally

I guess if that means that funeral processions would be at risk too, a line of 30 + cars following a hearse!
Appreciate the concern, but I'm not worried

The world's going to pot, honestly

I've already been on this loop and if you look at the thread for the Winter 2014 Brighton Convoy & Meet I was in touch with the governing body that is involved in the legislation that this is referring to.

I have retained the emails regarding this, too and from the Motor Sports Association, Competition Authorisation Office should they be needed for reference..

Fundamentally their terminology was, to quote:

If the vehicles are starting from A and getting to B without having or being given a set route (i.e. they make their own way to location ‘B’ by whatever route they choose), and some of the vehicles just making their way from home directly to location B, then Route Authorisation is not required.

Sorry if I am pushing the point but I spent quite some time (I am pretty thorough when it comes to the law and our meetings :-)) and it is something we have already investigated and ensured that we are remaining within the law regarding our convoys, drives, and meets.

The emails I have cover this in far more detail as to what we would have to do to infringe current road legislation regarding 'events'.. I would be happy to forward them to anyone concerned as to this, to set their minds at rest..

Everyone please note - I've been asked several times if any plus 1's are allowed, the answer is yes quite simply, the more the merrier.

All I would ask is that you please advise so I can update the thread to get as accurate an idea of numbers as possible.

I have a lot of contact names and mobile numbers from people from the last meet, which are very useful for so many reasons.
Please advise details for those of you who I do not have info for, as I will be sending out texts updating info nearer the time.

Thanks

That should be a good date for me. I'll tell a couple of my Jaguar owning pals too.
If it's not cheeky, could I tell you about an event I'm involved in organising. It's a charity fundraiser, going from Kilsyth to Inveraray Castle. On the way, we get to drive up the newly resurfaced and famous "Rest and be Thanful" before lunch at the castle. After lunch we geta try at a private hill climb at Glen Shira. It's not a competition, just fun. Details at www.argyllcscc.co.uk
Thanks Neil

Thanks for the confirmation Neil and yes, tell as many Jag owners as you like, they will be made welcome, but should join here and register if possible.

Re your event - why not make a post about it with some details into the UK regional section?
Good luck

Today, I've ordered the raffle books as we're going to have several prizes to give away, we're very fortunate.
At the moment we have at least 4 raffle prizes but with a little luck and some further generosity we may have yet more to come.

The intention is roughly as follows....

Each prize will be raffled off at a cost of £1 per ticket and then drawn, with further similar raffles to follow

Every ticket purchased will then be put into a final raffle and all funds will be split into another 2 winning tickets, approx 70/30
There should be several lucky winners on the day!!

A recurring theme from the last event with around 35 attendees was trying to remember everyone's name, maybe it was just me, I'm not sure.
With so many members, from so many forums to remember I think name badges are the order of the day.

I have them ordered and will write them up prior to the meet to be handed out to one and all.
Please believe me, it's not my favourite thing to do and the last thing I want to do is treat anyone like they're 5 years old, but it is for the benefit of all In the long run.
Of course they won't be compulsory but I hope that everyone will take it in good part and help those with failing memories...lol

I think that this would be the ideal event for me to (finally) break cover and actually show up at an event! Quick question, if my wife was to be lurking about in her (ahem, blush!!) Boxster would she be able to tag along?..... waaaay at the back, obviously

Peter, it'd be great to see you there and meet up, another forum meet virgin to add to the pot

Its primarily a Jaguar event of course, but I have already been asked if perhaps another 2 attendees might join in their "alternative vehicles"...

Why not I say, please feel free to come along, I'll add your name.
