Glen Turret Distillery meet Crieff Sun June 5th details

!!!!! 2 DAYS TO GO !!!!!
Well, I'd take another day like today in a heartbeat, very sunny and warm, fingers crossed!

The ultimate venue is Glen Turret distillery in Crieff, from approx. 09.45am onwards on the day. We will be gathering first at Stirling services
located at J9 just off the M9 from approx. 08.30am.
For logistical reasons it may be more suitable for those coming from the North to meet direct at the Distillery.

We should have a nice Jaguar convoy of perhaps 50 cars plus leaving the services promptly at 09.00am, the run to Glen Turret will take approx 45 minutes.
The plan will be to hand out "welcome packs" as far as is possible at the services. These will contain various Jaguar literature, sponsors details, keyrings, pens, name badges and dashboard information sheets for you and your vehicle.

It's a personal choice but I would ask that you use the name badges for easy recognition on the day. It will help others to instantly know you and your car and more likely your forum username, helping the day to go more smoothly.
I have contacted the Perthshire Advertiser and there may be an official photographer on the day, awaiting feedback on this.

There will also be a rough Itinerary of the day with approximate timings, these won't necessarily be hard n fast but should give an idea of how the day will go.

The Itinerary will be as follows
08.30am Gather at Stirling services initial meet point. As far as is possible, welcome packs will be handed out here.
09.00am - Leave in convoy for the run to Glen Turret distillery. Pentland Jaguar will already be there and set up with F Type and possibly F Pace.
09.50am - 10.00am Arrive and distillery and park, the forum banner will be set up and available for signing during the day, sharpies provided.
10.00am - 11.00am - Introduce the Pentland Jaguar crew. Wild Thyme have kindly put on bacon rolls for us from approx 10am onwards, so time for a coffee / roll and socialising.
11.00am - Announce raffle prizes with a brief chat about each sponsor. There are some amazing prizes on offer, raffle tickets will be £1 each will proceeds going into a FINAL raffle for cash prizes to be won. Everyone who bought a ticket will be included in this final draw
11.15am - 12.00pm collect raffle prize entries
12.15pm - 1.00pm raffle draws held and prizes given
1.00pm - 2.00pm - General socialising, pictures and conversation with a final group shot of everyone with the signed forum banner, something like this.....

We'll leave the distillery and take a right along the A85, through Comrie and St Fillans to Lochearnheard, take a left onto the A84 and head down through Strathyre and Callander back towards Stirling. Anyone left at this point will be welcome to congregate once more at Stirling services to chat and round off the day.

Well here we are, the day before the event, 06.12 am and the start of another lovely day here, bodes well for tomorrow I hope.

A massive thanks to my daughter Michelle, son Peter and grandson Lewis for the help last night.
We spent a very pleasant 4 hours sorting all the bags, leaflets / literature, pens and keyrings, tyre tread depth indicators , mugs and pencils along with snacks etc
See attached pics of "welcome pack" bags put together, there are specific bags for members and plain ones for plus 1's on the day. Poor Peter's room is kinda the junk room right now.

Then of course there's the Nordic tyres ( Nokian ) Winter jackets that go along with the winter tyre prize on offer, the forum banner, all the raffle books, master folder c/w with all lists, details etc, all just about ready good to go on the day.

Today will be spent cleaning the car in advance of tomorrow, checking everything twice ( at least ) and organising the team for the day ahead.
Thanks in advance to my wife Teresa, my sons Connor, Peter and Jamie, daughter Michelle, son in law Billy and grandson Lewis.

Should be an early start tomorrow, there'll be Jamie, Connor, Peter and myself with Jags leaving from the house. I believe that Rab ( Kingfisher ) my mate Davy Bisset and Alec Escolme will be here around 07.30am, we'll have a mini Jaguar meet at my house before we leave around 07.45 for the services.

Have another 20 or so phone calls to make, texts to send and items to cross of the list, before checking everything again, at least twice....lol
Lets just hope nothing is forgotten, if it is, Teresa will be blamed for not reminding me

Looking forward to seeing both new faces and old alike, catching up with many old friends and perhaps making a few new ones.
Once again, apologies in advance if I don't have much time to spend with anyone in particular, I'll be trying to focus on what comes next and ensure nothing is missed.

All my best
Jim

Hope the weather is as kind to you north of the boarder for your Jag meet, as it was for us in Brighton.

Jim,

That lot is never going to fit in the cars ...... unless you empty the boot of all your 'touring kit' first.

There's certainly been nothing lacking in your planning and preparation. I hope everyone has a great day.

Graham

There's certainly been nothing lacking in your planning and preparation. I hope everyone has a great day.

Graham
Lol, thanks Graham, your sarcasm is underwhelming
You are right though, both Connors and Jamie's X types boots are both full with all the bags ( full as in no space available ) and there's a small amount in my rear floor wells ( yes, my boot is full of "the touring kit" ) as you rightly say....

There'e been several late last minute call offs, but should still be a great day with good numbers and hopefully decent weather, just a shame you couldn't make it Graham.

02.58 am here now, really should try and get 3 hours sleep.....
Should be me, Jamie, Peter and Connor with their X types, my friend Davy Bisset and also Alec Escolme leaving from here around 07.45am approx., so a little mini convoy to the services
The Jags were all washed, dried, cleaned n pampered today, calipers n hubs done on the X types a few days ago, so about as good as they can be I guess.

Looking forward to seeing some really ice examples I'm sure, old and new faces alike.

All my best
Jim

Well done JimC64! It was a fantastic day. Here's hoping your good lady wife allows you in the F-Type! Thanks to you for your efforts! It was particularly pleasing to receive great contacts for servicing of our cars etc from the fabulous sponsors! I look forward to using some of these services very soon!

Hi all, please see below a small selection of pics / video of the day so far.

Briefly, it was a fantastic day, all made possible by some fantastic vendors / sponsors which ensured it was free for all.
There was good attendance, around 50 cars / 100 people, the sun definitely came out to play, the banter / craic was excellent as always, a really good mix of young and old, both in terms of cars and attendees.

I will be getting around to adding a more in depth write up of the day with appreciation to all sponsors concerned......
In the meantime.......

Watch this new video I made of the day at Glen Turret
Make your own at www.ezvid.com

More pics and videos to follow in the next few days.....

Many thanks to everyone of you in attendance who all helped to make the day what it was.
Best
Jim

Well, got to sleep around a little after 04.20am then up at 06.00am, so much to do…lol

Checked the weather and it was dry if a little cloudy, but I knew it’d burn off later ( and boy did it ever )
Connor and Jamie up and about doing their thing around 7am, Davy Bisset showed up at my house around 07.20am as did Alec Escolme ( cars were fettled after the long journey to look their best ) then the rest of the troop arrived.

Teresa came in from nightshift at around 07.30am and had 15 mins for a quick turnaround, we left at 07.45am as planned.

Jamie did a detour to the Village to collect my aunt and cousin and we had a little convoy to Stirling, there was a thunderous roar at one point and Caldoofy flew past ( love the sound of that bad boy )

Arriving at the services there were already a few people there and more arriving every minute or so. We got busy organising the SNG Barratt bags containing the “welcome packs” which were full of pens / pencils, Jaguar leaper keyrings and Pentland Jaguar keyrings, mugs, tyre tread depth indicators, name badges, itinerary sheets, sponsor details, various juices / snacks and more…

We met with the furthest travelled at this point, Rolly ( Brakeboost ) from Mississippi USA, he was over on holiday and joined us for the day, he travelled with my son Jamie and my aunt /cousin.....really nice guy.

At this point I’d like to acknowledge the generosity of some amazing sponsors who helped to make the day free for everyone, thank you so much….
Pentland Jaguar, SNG Barrat, Nokian (Nordic) tyres, Mackies Transmissions, Internet Brands, Mr Tint, Prestige Jaguar, Pinnacle Wax, DCRAutoparts, JagWrangler, Wheelpro Scotland and Goodman metalworks and AutoGlanz.

Time marched on and we left around 5 mins late, Terri was kind enough to set up for a video shoot as we left, I think she got most of us ( our fault as we were cracking on somewhat )

We had a convoy of some 40+ Jags on the way to Crieff, a real sight to behold and more than a few heads turned to do double takes, lol

Arriving at Glen Turret, the Pentland Jaguar boys ( Derek Cartner and Fraser Campbell ) were already set up, Derek had to leave due to staff shortages, but Fraser was awesome, helped so many people and had fun himself too I think. They had very kindly brought along an F Type as well as an F Pace, both were looked at, sat in, checked and double checked and Fraser answered around a thousand questions I'm sure....Thank you Pentland.

We parked and we got the new forum banner set up and signed. At this point I made a short announcement of the timings and then it was off for coffee and bacon rolls, the staff at Glen Turret did us proud, thank you!

During the course of the day I had to try to get people together ( never the easiest ) and had to coral members so everyone could hear and not miss out, It may have became a bit shouty at some points, but was necessary to make things go as best they could, thanks for your patience on that.
Around 11am I made announcements of the forum sponsors, thanking SNG Barratt for their kind offerings for the “welcome packs” and everyone else for their generous donations in prizes etc, then we proceeded to start collecting raffle money for the various prizes on offer. Many tickets were sold and we then retired for a coffee and some serious counting and organising of tickets. Thanks to Robert Finnigan, Rob Cooper, Terri, Tress, Michelle, Davy Bisset, Caldoofy, Alec, Jamie, Connor, Peter and others who helped…..

We raised some £730 in total, these funds were all put back in to the kitty….anyone not winning a prize would have a chance of some cash prizes, the total fund was split into 3rd prize £130.00, 2nd prize £250.00 and 1st prize £350.

Around 12.20 pm and the sun was really coming out big time, really warm with a gentle breeze as we started to call out the winning tickets. There were a few iffy moments where tickets were called and 2, one occasion 3 people came forward with the same number, this was resolved with matching serial numbers so all was well. It did make for a few light hearted moments when the first member didn’t match, neither did the second and the third member was the winner…….really funny in the end!!

I’m obviously not organised as I can’t remember who won what, it was all a blur…..lol
We were fortunate enough to have some forum sponsors in attendance, so Ian and Jim made the draw for Prestige, Marc ( an employee of Mackies ) made the draw for Mackies Transmissions and we asked independent ladies from the crowd to draw others.

Fraser from Pentland Jaguar made the draw for the F type weekend and would you believe, my wife won it???
In actual fact I took some £40 of tickets which she held on my behalf, so technically it’s mine for the weekend!!!!

Unbelievable, well chuffed. Unfortunately there was a public domestic between my wife and I which got rather heated, but rest assured it’s mine, if I ask nicely, lol

So many people won so many great prizes thanks to the forum sponsors. They helped me to make this day possible for you, for us….Please bear them in mind for future business moving forward and remember to say you’re a Jaguarforums member. They’ll give you their best pricing and attention at all times, rest assured.

With the raffle prizes sorted it was time for a collective pic with the signed banner, always a fun part of the day as it started to wind down.

There was just so many happy smiling faces, some old and some new which was nice, the craic / banter flowed and car compliments were everywhere. It turned out to be a really good mix of young and old, there were older daily drivers like mine and much newer more expensive rides too. Everyone chatted and mingled regardless of age or vehicle and generally enjoyed the day I believe.

Perhaps around 1.30pm – 2.00 pm we left for the drive, turning right though Comrie and St Fillans along to Lochearnhead. Derek ( Lurker ) had went ahead for a meal at a local pub there and kindly gave us a heads up of Police presence in the area.

To be fair it was a gentle drive trying to keep in convoy as far as was possible, down through Strathyre and into Callander, then back to Stirling services, around a dozen or so came back.
Tress left at this point with Connor to get a few hours sleep before starting nightshift again tonight she’s a wee soldier. I watched as she left and thought to myself, it could be worse, it could be me….lol

The few of us remained and chatted, slowly drifting away one by one till it was just myself, Alec and Caldoofy…..a perfect opportunity for the 3 XJ’s in a photo opportunity.

About 4.30 or so we too left and headed home.
All in all I think it was a good day and seemed to go well, certainly from my end and hopefully everyone enjoyed it too.

pictorial video here, more to follow.....

I’ll be passing the baton onto someone else for next year though
Thanks all
Jim
